This piece of artwork started off from an idea on just trying to portray Yumi in a joyful way, and just taking on a simple piece, I have previously made big artworks before this and I wanted to take a breather on something fun and there will always be something new in each piece, despite being simple.
The difference here is the coloring, the sketch process and my take on the eyes.
I simply struggle with how I want to draw every person's eye but I'd say I was satisfied with this, I didn't want to draw too thick of an eyelash, nor did I want it to be too anime and huge, not that I don't like it, I adore it, I simply want to draw it in a way that I am comfortable with, so I was left with this. That goes the same for her face itself, from triangular faces to a face with structure and shape, though I may still have to work on coloring the nose area, can't help but make it look awkward with unnecessary shadow.
The coloring is inspired by various artists that I'd like to mention: Kawacy, Tim Lochner and Krenz Cushart. I started from cel-shading at first, but I felt that it wasn't fitting here, plus I didn't feel like it was something that I'd want to do, I wanted to go for that painterly feel.
So I used blending brushes to get the effect I want, making use of different techniques I've learned and was inspired from the three artists I've mentioned, I guess you can say I merged it all up.
I only took a few hours to finish it, 3 in total IF COMBINED, I posted a sketch image of this in the rest of my social media accounts last night but went to sleep and rest, but the total amount of time used for this were all combined, I'd say I finished faster than ever before.
I do not take credit of the brushes I've downloaded, as they were provided by BrazenBushido and Gouache on DA! So I do not take credit for it!
