Description
Okay so this was originally a watercolor sketch i did way back before "A single pale rose" aired, and it looked like this: sta.sh/02nza294b9i . I didn't plan on finishing it but after the reveal it felt appropriate. Sooo... i don't know how to feel about "Rose" now. At first i was really disappointed that they chose to do such a clichΓ© twist, the theory has been around for a while, and as the show progressed it became more and more ridiculous. But on the other hand, everything makes so much sense, it adds a totally different tone to the show, and it also adds more dimension for the characters (especially Pearl... Poor Pearl ;_; ). So, with all of that in mind, i have to say that i like the twist, i really do. But i'm kinda bummed that Rose turned out to be such a fraud. I really liked how she was portrayed as this perfect goddess at the beginning of the show, and as it progressed it became more and more obvious that she wasn't, well, perfect. I even really liked when it was revealed that she "shattered" Pink Diamond, it just added to her personality. But now... I don't know honestly. I can't wait to see the aftermath of all this.As for the drawing itself; this took me way too long. But i guess it was worth it. I intentionally copied the pose from the portrait they have of her at the temple. I tried really hard to make it ominous and a bit mysterious, especially with the lighting. It was also meant to be even darker, but it looked flat so i added some highlights.
That's it, i hope you like it <3

There was an interview with Rebecca Sugar after the episode was debuted. She basically confirmed that this was planned from pretty much the beginning.

This is so crazy! I haven't recovered from the shock and am hard to believe this happens in a canon episode.

Yes... the episode is such a huge plot twist that I can compare this with "Not What He Seems".

Said a junior Gravity Falls fan. I started to watch this show this year, and when I see the history of Rose is inconsistent, I sensed that there will be a black hole behind her story - but I didn't see such a plot coming, I thought it would be just some juvenile fan stories yet it's now canon.
