Description
The piece that has been my personal baby for the past two weeks. I was redoing (again) my giant robot mesh, when I was struck with the desire to revisit a different part of my early (horrible) works. The Colonies.Using all that I've learned over the years since that first set of colonies, with tips and tricks and a new desktop PC, I have reimagined these two colonies, with more detail, more components and...well, more gribbly bits and random lights to make them look a bit less blank.
This was rendered at something like 4K size, but that was too big, so I resized it to a standard 1920x1080 size in Windows Paint. So as a result, you can't zoom in and squint and try and see the little specks of shuttles passing between and around each colony.

This is really cool. Where have I seen this station/hab before? I feel like something very close to it was used as cover art for a book I read not that long ago. Regardless, I love it!

Well, these are O'Neill Island 3 Space Habitats - AKA, 'O'Neill Cylinders', first proposed in Gerard K. O'Neill in his 1976 book The High Frontier: Human Colonies in Space . That said, I most often saw them myself in the Mobile Suit Gundam anime - mainly the UC timeline such as the original anime, Zeta, Double Zeta, and most recently in Gundam Unicorn.

Ohh, my friend. I know what it is. I love the O'Neill cylinder concept and include them in my own IP. Here's the "YinoQor-6" which translates to "SuperArk-6"
I was asking if this specific complex was based on another O'Neill complex. Like I said, I feel like I've seen this one before.

I used several images sourced off of Google as reference, but mostly these are based off the ones seen in Gundam.

Ahh, ok. This is the image I was thinking of. Probably what the ones in Gundam are based on.
