Not sure who this Opera Star is but I just LOVE how deliciously evil looking he is.

For this one I just mucked around with texture brushes and colours lol. I'm not sure what else to tell you. There was no special trick or anything. Just plastering paint until I liked it

Oh, I use Photoshop CS6. But thats an older painting, so I was probably using CS3.
As for brushes, I was mucking around with the textured default brushes and "soft" airbrush.

It really is an amazing piece. The texturing, technique and color scheme really accents this and brings it almost out of the painting. The lines are subtle yet truly defined where they need to be. I really love your work.

Your pieces are so beautiful! It's no wonder people will pay you your asking price. No one would ever buy what I can do at that kind of price. ^.^; Not sure if I'll ever make it to your level, which honestly, kind of makes me depressed. I know everyone says practice, practice, practice, but it's hard to do when you work a full time job, and it seems even all of the practice you can do still doesn't put you anywhere close. But I don't dare go back to school for art again, the loans I have from the last time I think don't balance evenly with what I learned and have already left me in a deep hole of debt.

Its as he says just stick with it. I am a self taught artist also, and practice and hard work will really pay off in the long run. So do not let it get you down your work is amazing in its own way.

Thank you very much for your kind words. Some where along the lines, my confidence in my work took a heavy hit, and coming back from that has been a long struggle.

I never went to art school to learn how to paint or use digital programs :/ . Much like you said, i didn't want the debt and feared maybe the school wouldn't teach me what i want to know. I have a bit of a distrust of art teachers.
good luck with your art path! I look at other artists work too sometimes and also think; " Wow, I hope to be abke to do that one day! How do they do it? D: I'll never get there!'
I think it's an affliction with all artists. A lot of us who have some degree of humility are very self critical. ( Then there are the ones who seem to have huge egos and loads of confidence when their work does not necessarily reflect why lol )

Gah....this took for ever for me to get back to, but thank you so much for the words of understanding. And yeah,I'm starting to realize that even a lot of the artists that I see as being really amazing hit points where they just feel they aren't doing anything right.
