Maybe it is just Solas' imagination as he tries to cling to everything that is related to Lavellan and then fantasizing a meeting with her when she was young (by the way, she's probably about 11-13 years old here).
Or maybe he already met her in the past - which is an idea that I quite like - and he is wandering in his memories The last bubbles with the Julian police) would be whether it is the first or the second interpretation, either the last words that Solas speaks in this dream as he is waking up, either the words of his subconscious, as he certainly did not tell those things to baby Lavellan.
If it is truly a memory, Solas probably forgot he already knew her. I suppose he remembered during the romance, or maybe just there!
As for Lavellan's words, when she says that the wolf is her and him, she makes reference to her Dalish condition and as for him to his mage condition. This can be extended to all form of exclusion.
Of course, she does not know how much she is right (SPOILEEEERS).

Perhaps this is her memory he's stumbled upon while sleeping in that forest. He did seem surprised to see her. He can look at the memories of others with the fade depending on where he sleeps. And he can interact with the spirits acting out the memory. If my memory serves that is. Spirits can look into the emotions and motives of the people after all, so it wouldn't surprise me that it is able to give him her answer since the memory is not centuries old.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about it and this information, I didn't know that so it's very interesting, it adds more dimension ! ^^ So thinking more about it, it could be a deeply buried memory if it's hers, since - you probably saw it - in the "Make me forget" short-comics, she asks Cole to forget Solas. Hm! I really like this idea. It would mean that there is hope she recovers memory. ^^
He definitely was surprised to see her, I think before falling asleep he recognized the place without expecting he would see this memory. I actually think that he did not make the connection between the little Dalish girl and the Inquisitor, if not remembering this meeting at all, so it explains his surprise.
So much possible interpretations, I freaking love it ^^

But like I had mentioned, "if my memory serves" as in if I remember correctly, I could have misinterpreted what Solas meant but that's just the way I saw it. If you want to listen to his explanation and don't want to spend hours playing the game again, you could always go on YouTube and listen to Solas party comments and conversations with the Inquisitor in the game. I know that's cheating unless you've beaten the game, but you learn a lot about the Fade and how he can interact with spirits, conversations you might have missed because you were in the middle of gameplay, I know that happens to me. I did that when I wanted to see if there had been any conversation I had missed, I just love listening to him talk, like Varric. The mind chess game between him and The Iron Bull was interesting enough, but my favorite was the conversations between Solas and Varric. Varric presents a new perspective on the memories of the Fade Solas shares.

I love that concept! At first I didn't think it fit him, but then I learned that as a young man he was supposed to be a little wild, so now I think it's perfect! I also sorta imagined he would be blond, just a personal headcanon, but I think you drew him really well with brown hair. Keep up the good work darling!

First things first, I love your works, they are beautiful, refined in every detail, and… all the emotions!
And second thing (just some thoughts)
I really hate this guy. My Lavellan was ready to give up on this whole inquisition business after defeating Corything, and go with Solas wherever he needs.
I mean, she was like “You are Dread Wolf?” – “Yeah whatever”, “It was you, who gives Orb to Cory?” – “Yeah, whatever”, “After you absorb spirit from Mythal, I will be bound to you?”* – “A little bit unsettling, but yeah whatever ”, “You want to change completely this world, wake Elven Gods or something?” – “Yeah, whatever, let’s go on an adventure!”
But nope, he just disappear with those puppy eyes, because ”He needs to do this alone”. Damn it, Solas. Doesn’t he see, that if he is doing something on his own, it is not working? (mess with Elven Gods, giving orb to Cory).
Sorry about this, I've just got to get it off my chest xD
*well, I hope that this had happened, not the other way around.

I loved this... so THANK YOU.
So many complain (even if that feels like too negative a word to use) that they can't get over him but I don't regret romancing him even if it did end badly. I would've LIKED it to end differently but it's sweet this way too. I just have this huge problem whenever I play again as my wont is to be an elf... and any other race just makes me want to reroll and romance him again. I'm hopeless but I'm not sad nor do I regret. So I guess I'll survive.

I don't regret neither! It's such a wonderful romance, I think it is the most beautiful of all for me. The other romances were awesome but not the same kind, you know what I mean ? ^^ Not in the sense that it is better, but it is another type and I liked it so much. Solas wasn't supposed to be romanceable in the beginning according to Patrick Weekles, so I'm so glad they made it, because it was totally worth it. I hope we will see more in the DLC or in DAIV...

Solas, totally one of the best characters in the game, I am sad that you do not get enough conversations with him, I would want to talk to him for hours if I could, and the romance with him is one of the best

I could not agree more. Solas is a very charismatic and essential character, he is probably the more interesting for me! It is true that he has an important place in the game but yes, we can't really talk to him privately, and the romance was just about a very few cutscenes!
