Good point. It's just something that a lot of friends of mine keep thinking. I always wonder, but I'm never really sure. Perhaps if they were to have a third encounter, maybe, but we'll never quite be sure.

Ooo I love how Mowgli's face swirls around dizzily as he falls deeper and deeper into sleep! The poor kid doesn't even notice the coils winding around his waist! Nor does he recognize the subtle threat of "rest in peace!"

Since his eyes are locked with Kaa's, it's no surprise that his head swirls in the same direction as his - and gives Kaa the chance to easily coil him. And no, I don't think Mowgli knows what Kaa meant by that saying
