Kytie is a new character that "came" to me recently. She's a German Shepherd Mix of the sorts, but her other bloodlines are not known.I'm quite pleased with this, and I had to really sit down and look at German Shepherd pictures to get the face and body right.
FYI - I know some people have German Shepherd characters out there, and I promise you that I'm not trying to copy anyone.
As it stands, she's not even purebred anyway. Lol!

This really looks like my GSD, Jayda, only she's got more muscle, and she's not a liver (she's black and tan).
And her tail is more... Sickle-y. xD; But her right ear never stood... It looks kinda like a wing-ear, really. But she's still my baby, even if she doesn't match her standard!

Poor thing has horrible sloping hips. Unfortunately that is a common trait amongst German Shepherds..so later on she'll prolly have to have surgery. *hugs Kytie*

Plus, it's common for show GSD's to be in that stance to for dog shows, not because of the hips having problems.
But yes I know that it's common, mostly in American bred bloodlines unfortunately. They can be quite overbred. :\

They put the dogs in the stance like that because of their hips. If they made them stand like that for shows, and the hips werent naturally sloping, then it would be uncomfortable for the dog.

You could have the best GSD showdog in the world with the best hips in the world, but It would still be presented to a judge at a dog show in that posture.
If it were more comfortable for the dog to stand that way, then it would choose to, but they dont!!
A trained veterenarian would of course need to see the dog move, and see x-rays to know the condition of the hips. With you being the 'know it all' that you are, I guess you x-rayed the art and had it hip scored too!!
Of course, as this is a piece of art ... an imaginary beast if you will, it's physical abilities and attributes are whatever the creator / artist says they are. For all you know this dog might fly!!

You did a great job constructing the face and body type like that of a German shepherd, why do there bodies have to be so hard to draw? lol
