Kafka-Cosmonaut — The pic in which I blatantly stole people's styles

Description Alternative title:The pic in which I was too poor to commission people so instead I made half-assed forgeries.

But in all seriousness, this was something I did as a bit of an art warm up this weekend. A lot of people do different style memes, and I recently saw someone do one where they did a character in the styles of like 20 of their dA friends. When I realized I could try doing the styles of my ultimate art senpais... well let's just saw I always have a Star Fruits character to abuse love on just lying around! I did not intend Castor to look so much like a diva in these, but meh... I suppose the guy is tired enough from his job after the day that maybe some smolders and cheeky stares to attract the attention of the ladies is called for.

You can see more of Castor and the entire Star Fruits crew at my group, The-Star-Fruits ! The Star Fruits is my passion graphic novel project, and I'm starting to begin work on making it a reality! If you're a fan of Star Trek but thought, "Meh, I don't like these Captain people, I wish Quark was in charge of the entire station," then, boy, do I have a piece of media for you! It's a sci-fi, but it's also a comedy and my personal attempt to see how many 80s shoulder pads and obscure synth pop references I can cram into a panel. Please check it out~! Also, check my art senpais out! They're pretty awesome people, and way more talented than I am!

[ MiiMiiu ] This was the second style I tried to do. I've been watching MiiMiiu because of her pretty adoptables. She always seems to capture her characters in such an effortless paintbrush style, and I tried to capture that. She also focuses on a lot of darker themes in her works, which is good, because Castor is a bit of creepy looking guy. I'm not completely happy with how this turned out (I'm pretty stuck in my ways when it comes to drawing hair and really struggle doing it any other way, for instance). However, it was fun working on the watercolor-style shading. The mouth was especially fun.

[???] I accidently lost the username of this artist. o___O Which I realize is concerning. I've spent several hours looking for the person, and the images I referenced, and just when I need them, dA seems to tell me they don't exist. Anyway, this person is someone I'm not watching (hence my issue in finding them) but I've seen their art on dA literally every other month. They have a very realistic manga style, and a unique sense of coloring (mostly involving a really interesting blue-toned shading technique thing I could barely come close to reproducing), which made this a lot of fun to do. If you happen to feel you may know who's style I was trying here, please comment so I can properly credit them!

[ MaewenMitzuki ] This was the first one I attempted to do. I've done this challenge before, but not with using other deviant's styles. I've recently started watching you, and even though I'm not a K-pop listener, the way you draw various stars makes me think I should start. They all look so gorgeous, and your vaguely vaporwave windows 95 aesthetic and pop-ups are so creative. I had a lot of issues of making pop-ups that looked anything like yours did, so I had to stick with the regular 95 error messages and such. This didn't really come too close to your style, as I don't quite have the same flawless shading going on here or the right composition, but it taught me a lot about trying to draw more realistic but pleasing humans aliens.

[ rossdraws ] I've been watching Ross on YouTube for at least a year now. His art videos are always funny, and though they lack a lot of the tutorial stuff (I'd assume I'd get if I was a patreon) he always provides tips and tricks I don't find anywhere else. In true RossDraws fashion, I drew on top of several images all amalgamated together. Kinda left the Nasa Mars background though... because after hours of trying to make Castor's face look K-pop star smooth, I was done with this portrait.

Tagging: So first off, let me say all of you are great artists, and I'd love to see your OCs in the styles of people you admire! I myself admire these four artists above mostly because of how difficult and amazing their work seems. It may be discouraging to try something like this, but with that being said, if I can half-a** my way through a semi-descent picture in a style years ahead of me in talent... you can too. Don't feel forced to do this, but know I'd be happy if you did! QuyaKillaLuna Solarfox123 LeoDaZodiac musicnotedraws Xemerani and XJunjoX !

 OMG SENPAI NOTICED ME!!!!!!!

I've been a huge fan of your style for a long time now. Thank you for making such beautiful art that I can be so inspired by as to want to do something like this. And thanks for stopping by! I'm a vaporwave fan myself, so I had the same look at the pretty "vaporwave windows 95 aesthetic" when I saw your art for the first time. Keep making the great creations you do~

Somehow this tag didn't show up in my mentions and I am very confuse

But I might give this a try! I've never been good at things like this tbh, especially since most people i admire have digital and for some reason, I'm just bad at translating that into traditional. BUT I may try this!

You did a great job with all four styles here >U<

You're not the first person to tell me that, I am very confuse too.

And yeay~! If you feel up to it, go for it! I know traditional might be a tad harder, but its a great exercise for improvement and an awesome way to see how other artists do things~

Thanks man! See you around.

Confuse is a constant state of being it seems.

Yeah, I'll see how these next few weeks go! Right now I'm sups tired-I'm at my dad's (concert last Sunday, comicon today, father's day tomorrow) and out of my element, so I'm too tired and fidgety to try something super difficult. XD

See you around!

(Also I read all of the last comments, but I agree that conversation was getting too long whoops)

My goodness . . . I could not believe my eyes when I saw this. I love how each one can be recognised to the artist's style you tried to imitate, yet they also all look uniquely like your own <3 I really love the last one, where you used Ross' style; I really thought Castor was a KPop star at first for some reason . . . ?

I references a lot of K-pop stars for this entire thing. It kind of started with MaewenMitzuki and just continued for the rest of these... I imagine Castor's a bit of a diva though. Cymbeline probably rubs off on him.

And I blame lineart for the reason they still look uniquely like my own. Oh well... one day I shall be able to make adequate forgeries. jk

>v< Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate it!
