Description Over a week ago, I purchased a pair of plain black slip-on Vans at the mall. I originally wanted the skull print ones, but they only had sizes 7.5 and 10 in womens. So I got some red Jacquard Neopaque textile paint and hand-painted this design on mah shoes.

It took about three to four layers of paint in order to make the color stand out.

Thank you!

You can find Jacquard's Neopaque textile paint at any art supply store. You can also get it online at dickblick.com or dharmatrading.com. You'll need some thin, stiff-bristled brushes for this kind of work. about 2 to 4 layers of paint should suffice on a dark background, 1 or 2 on a light background for an opaque look.

The paint must be heat-set before use, which can be done with careful ironing (set on low, 3 minutes), or set in the dryer (also set on low).

Thank you!

I first outlined the design in tailor's chalk (which can be removed with water). I then used Jacqard's Neopaque textile paint in bright red using a stiff-bristled brush. You can heat-set them to waterproof them by either carefully ironing over the design or by putting them in the dryer (set on medium-low).

^__^ Just a tip for next time: if you put down a layer of opaque white first, the color will show faster.

Really nice!
