Description
So, the trailer for Godzilla: The Planet Eater just came out. I'm both hesitant and a little bit intrigued on how they're gonna portray Ghidorah as the dragon-equivalent of Yog-Sothoth.ΒAlso, here's my theory as to why Ghidorah has both three snake heads sharing a hive-mind and this more classic visage:
Ghidorah appears in multi-form because he regards all life beneath him and he doesn't take on the two-winged, two-tailed, three-headed form because he believes the people or monsters he's determined to destroy are not worth his true form. So, maybe, during the final battle between him and Godzilla, he realizes Goji is the perfect challenge he never knew existed and takes on the form we all know and love.Β

Honestly, I'd say he seems even more Lovecraftian than your theory would suggest. He's apparently made of energy, so it's possible he can largely dictate his own form. Hell, he might not even be evil. The inhabitants of the planets he 'eats' are probably beneath his notice in the same way ants are to us. When you walk down the sidewalk during summer, I can guarantee you accidentally step on quite a few bugs, but they're so comparatively insignificant that you'll never notice.
Ghidorah might not be attacking to spread misery and destruction, simply in order to sustain himself. And if he has to squash a few ants to enjoy his picnic, that's exactly what he'll do.

I dunno, we clearly saw him attacking the AratrumΒ in the trailer, so chances are, he's not above attacking humans or other living things in the process.Β

He may not recognize that he's attacking anything. If he's truly Lovecraftian, and I really hope he is, his mindset is going to be completely alien to us.
If he is a higher dimensional being, humans would be like letters on a piece of paper. You're not intending to wipe out an entire civilization composed of the alphabet, but that might just be what's happening from a two-dimensional being's point of view.

Gen Urobuchi (the writer of this anime trilogy) is a HUGE fan of Lovecraft, and is also one of the few people who knows how to do Cosmic Horror right! So this should be interesting to see.

I agree with Tim, you're theory seems fitting for a Ghidorah who's pretty much a Lovecraftian inspired horror

That's an awesome theory, and greatly fitting of a god-like King Ghidorah who borders along the lines of an Eldritch Horror - a concept Ghidorah honestly always had, but was never fully played on...until now.
