Description
Commission idea from KaijuDuke, detailing a quadruped Ghidorah in a similar spirit to DesGhidorah and Kaizer Ghiddy but with a little bit more of a Legendary design aesthetic in there. I see now though that I kind of unconsciously managed to sneak in Smaug's head on the middle neck there, but hey it's a good look. I'm not sure how I feel yet about how many legs/arms Ghiddy should have in the upcoming Legendary version, but hey, I could certainly live with this or something close to it. I doubt the Legendary version will be so classically golden though, but hey it's how I love the old dragon so it is what it is. Here's to the futureALSO: Commissions OPEN! kaijukid.deviantart.com/journa…

I like it, but with those massive legs and small wings, he'd never be able to fly.

Didn't even see the Smaug reference originally. Really like how you've managed to mix the three Ghidorahs together.

That raises a good point about G2, being Ghiddy's origins for that movie. Surely they won't pass him off as a dinosaur, but I'm sure they won't go the space monster route either. Maybe a straight up mutation? Gonna be interested to see where that goes.

Yeah, like I had to DEAL with the fact the friggin' King of Monsters got less screentime than the less appealing, uninteresting human characters. Great idea, Edwards! (Hell, half the fans probably saw it cause Cranston was in it)

"the friggin' King of Monsters got less screentime than the less appealing, uninteresting human characters."
LOL, you just explained the plot of every Godzilla movie ever . Gareth Edwards isn't to blame for that, he was doing exactly what was present in every Godzilla film ever. If you're complaining about this now then you're 60 years too late bud.
"Hell, half the fans probably saw it cause Cranston was in it"
So much wrong with that statement sir. If someone went to watch a Godzilla film for Bryan Cranston then you fail as a Godzilla fan.

- 11 minutes for an appearance in a 2 hour film is laughable compared to twice of that in the older 70-80 minutes films.
- Yeah, the Bryan Cranston statement was an exaggeration; but I was disappointed he didn't have a longer role in the film. (I was still getting over Breaking Bad's ending.)
- You say "tomato"; I say "tomato". We're two individuals with differing opinions; but we can both agree it was a success compared to the '98 film.

In the 1954 film, Godzilla had 7 minutes and 55 seconds of total screen time... not sure how this one is 'laughable' when the original had even less of him when he was the focus of that film .
I wasn't disappointed in Cranston's death really, just the fact that he died too early .
Well, that certainly is true .

Really? Huh. I thought it differed between the edited/unedited versions of the film. In any case, it was the first film of the franchise, & at the time of its release, it was meant to highlight the pros/cons of nuclear armaments
If you really want a laugh, check out CinemaSins take on "Everything Wrong w/ Godizlla (2014)" & HISHE idea on how the film should have been made.

Either way, Legendary has stated "we've read the internet comments and we guarantee that you'll see more Godzilla in the sequel".
I don't take Cinema-sins seriously; they make good movies look like shit by the end of an analysis . HISHE idea?

I know I saw the HISHE video and I laughed so hard at seeing Godzilla's fat ass do a belly flop; causing a tsunami again .
Honest Trailers is alright but I didn't watch the Godzilla one. I heard that the only thing they poked fun at was Goji's lack of screen time. I know that his lack of screen time is an issue but if that's all they can make fun of then it isn't even funny at that point; it's just beating a dead horse.

All I hope is that he's HUGE, just beautiful to look at on the big screen and terrifying. That would totally make me forgive the fact that Ghiddy is one of the most commonly used kaiju of the franchise.

If he's twice Godzilla's size like he was in the original films then I can't see why he wouldn't be HUGE .
Ghidorah is one of the most commonly used kaiju because he's Godzilla's most popular foe. In a sense, he's like "The Joker" of the Godzilla series.

Right, I know this, but that's what I mean. I love Ghiddy but I was getting pretty tired of him, honestly, especially in GMK when it was revealed we could have had the return of Varan in his place. I still kind of wish Godzilla 2 would introduce new kaiju, but if they're going to stick with the favorites then I just want them to go full boar and make him awesome to look at, because that will make the lack of new kaiju more forgiveable. I just like new kaiju from time to time XD

EmperorMinilla In reply to KaijuKid [2015-08-31 09:44:05 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I'll admit that even I wasn't a fan of what they did to him in GMK (even though the film happens to be a favorite of mine); it felt too out of place and it feels like they just tossed him in there because of popularity instead of story reasons.

XD Heh, awesome, thanks. I wouldn't doubt that this Ghiddy would want to practically be feared and worshiped by all other undeserving underling kaiju, right?

Very impressive. And like my friend, Sideswipe217 said, this is a design that could possibly work for the movie. I really like how he's basically a mixup between traditional western dragons, andthe eastern variety that Ghidorah himself was inspired by. And i do see a bit of Smaug in the head design. Guess hearing the design plan for Ghidorah, nobody can resist using ole' Smaugy as the basis for what Legendary could possibly have in mind. Well, awesome work all around.

KaijuKid In reply to kahnac [2015-08-30 16:30:20 +0000 UTC]
Appreciate that, thanks. I guess it's only appropriate, though, Smaug is often cited as the grand-daddy of most modern dragons in literature and pop culture, but I've always loved how Ghidorah has stood apart from most just because of his unique design and more universal implications as a world conquerer. No matter what though I just hope that Legendary makes him HUGE, like massively huge. It will sell him so good.

kahnac In reply to KaijuKid [2015-08-30 23:31:44 +0000 UTC]
You're very welcome. And i believe you are right about that. Smaug is probably one of the oldest, andmost well known dragons of fictionalwritings, and his appearance in thePeter Jackson trilogy only helped to prove that. But yes, King Ghidorah himselfis a much more unique kind of Dragon, both in appearance, and in origin. Though if anything, i feel like he wrote the book on planet killing monsters. Oh, i'm sure they will. After all, if they really want to stem back to the Ghidrah roots, then making Ghidorah anything other than a 3 headed behemoth is the most important part of it. After all, this is a being who cannot be defeated by anyone kaiju alone. It takes a number ofthem to oppose, and successfully beat him. And i don't think it would be a worthy challenge if he was only half Godzilla's size. No, to make him a big threat, he must BE big. Bigger than all three of the kaiju as the old David vs Goliath theme. Not monumentally huge like Magita, oh no, just towering over Godzilla himself. But i'm sure you know what i mean.

Ghidorah turned out awesome man! Thanks! He looks so big and powerful, and lifelike, and all the little details from the scales to the muscles to the classic style Ghidorah horns and head crests, totally sells this behemoth as Ghidorah for me...Lets hope Legendary can do the same with whatever they decide to do with their incarnation >;3
Thanks again KaijuKid, I'll look forward to the second one

You're welcome, dude. It's funny but no matter what else they do with the design I just have this really hardcore hope that they somehow integrate the half moon horns....it's just such a distinctive feature that I always miss when any particular Ghidorah design doesn't have it.

Legendary has only rarely disappointed me on creature design, I have confidence they will tackle the great winged terror with gusto. All I hope is that they don't do something drastic like remove his wings entirely or something similarly lame.
