Jubokko is a sentient tree that lives in the Forest of Spirits. Like the rest of his kind of yo-kai he was given life when his roots got soaked in and absorbed the blood of warriors that had fallen in a battle he was in the middle of. Because it gave him life, Jubokko has gained a taste for blood and now behaves like a carnivorous plant, such as venus flytrap. He waits for a victim, sometimes a human, to come close enough, grabs them in his branches, and drains them of their blood, sometimes through the tips of his claw-like branches and sometimes through his tree hole, which formed into a mouth.

Long ago, Jubokko lived in an ancient battlefield, the same one he was given life in. However he soon grew board of the desolate landscape, not to mention lonely. All the other trees had been killed off, they were accidental casualties of the battle. Eventually, with some help from the other local yo-kai, he was able to uproot himself and be transported to the Forest of Spirits, he has lived happily ever since. Today he still feeds on blood, but had has stopped feeding on that have humans, due to the forest of spirits peaceful coexistence with them.
