Centuries ago during the time of Atlantis the monster Battra was birthed by the earth's mana and sent to Atlantis to destroy a weather control device they had constructed,Battra did so, but went into a blind rage and began to hurt the earth itself and the worlds Mothras converged against their dark brother killing him, but not before he slew many Mothras.
In 1993, a research team on Adnoa island discover a huge red and black egg, which they unwisely tow toward Japan, while at sea it Hatches and a new Battra emerges to be attacked by a larva Mothra. The two titanic insects battled viciously until Godzilla arrived and tossed Mothra aside as he and Battra were engulfed by an underwater volcano. Mothra headed for Japan where she pupated into her imago form, knowing Battra would soon arrive, which soon happened, and he and Mothra battle in the skies over Tokyo. Godzilla rises from the sea and heads to aid Mothra who was overwhelmed by Battra but Godzilla soon turned the tide and was ready to kill Battra but Mothra stopped the monster king and it was soon revealed by Battra that he had been reborn to help fight an evil that would threaten the world, he then returned to his larva form and went to live on Monster island, leaving only to aid Godzilla and the other monsters when the need arise.
Battra would escape being controlled by the Kilaaks in 2009, and he Mothra,and Biollante would try to stop the rampage going on across the world, but were outnumbered and forced to retreat. Once the Earth kaiju were freed from Kilaak power by G-force scientists, Battra would join the fight against Ghidorah and the other Kilaak kaiju.
