Mondo island one of the two remaining atolls that were once part of the larger whole of ancient Skull island, that was discovered in the early part of the 60's, was home to a species of 50 meter Allosaur called Gorosaurus Watsoni after Lt. Susan Watson who ran afoul of Gorosaurus in 1967 after a UN expedition to the island. She would have met an untimely end in the Megadinosaur's jaws had King Kong not intercepted the reptile and broke his jaw. Days later a member of the expedition named Dr. Huu came back to Mondo island and captured the injured dinosaur along with Kong, and the giant seasnake.
In 1968 after the arrest of Huu the huge dinosaur was moved to Monster island where he and Mothra became good friends and allies he would also become the ally to Godzilla and Angilas, Gorosaurus would leave Monster island in 2009 by will of the Kilaaks who sent him with Baragon and several Kamacuras to Paris to raze the city to nothing, but the humans would free him from their power and the megadinosaur would fight against their kaiju, gulping down the large predatory rabbit Lepus, and helping Varan and Titanosaurus send the Stranger fleeing for his life as well as Ghidorah. Gorosaurus would also prove invaluable in the monster wars.
