Description

(Took a small detour to draw some KOTM characters, will get back to Godzilla Earth soon!)

Jungle Titan

BEHEMOTH

Titan Class

Height: 100 meters

Mass: 50,000 metric tons

Bio:

Rising from a MONARCH facility built deep in the jungles of the Amazon, the mammalian kaiju BEHEMOTH, also known as “Mapinguary,” rose when Doctor Emma Russel’s MUTO PRIME experiment was unleashed upon the world with the help of the newly reformed Red Bamboo terrorist organization. Like the other Titan Class kaiju, MUTO Prime, aka JINSHIN MUSHI (the Centipede Dragon), called to Behemoth as part of the broader plan to “seed” the other Titans with Shinomura spawn and unleash them upon the world.

Taking part in the Battle of Boston, Behemoth, along with SCYLLA, METHUSELAH, and the LEGENDARY GODZILLA became embroiled in a battle royale, ending the threat of MUTO Prime, but revealing to the world that a new breed of kaiju now ruled, and yet as old as the planet itself.

Abilities/Aspects:

  • Tremendous strength
  • Tusks are nearly unbreakable, can plow through whole buildings
  • Huge claws can carve through stone and steel
  • Natural burrower
  • Prehistoric seeds and pollen trapped in fur recreates ancient, radioactive plant species.
  • Other abilities as yet unknown

Absolutely love how you handled Behemoth. His design was quite interesting being a combination of a giant ground sloth and a gorilla with the massive tusks of a mammoth. And adding ancient runes and markings on his tusks was a nice touch. As it helps in adding mystery to what kind of relationship Behemoth had with the humans who worshipped him in ancient times since those marks had to have been engraved by somebody.

I personally found Behemoth to be a very interesting addition to the Monsterverse and just Kaiju in general. Primarily since he's one of the few giant monsters out there that's actually a Mammal. A majority of the Kaiju we have or get are either reptiles, dinosaurs, insects, arthropods or any other sort of invertebrate, plants, robot, aliens, or some sort of amorphous creature. Mammalian kaiju, on the other hand, are very rare and not many exist and some of the ones that do can be argued over whether or not they even are mammals. So it's refreshing to see a genuine mammalian giant monster make an appearance.

Matt's philosophy with King Ghidorah is that there is only *one* King Ghidorah. I have a feeling MUTO Prime is going to be taking the spot of the Alpha rival to Legendary Godzilla. Likewise, I don't think there'll be roles for Mothra and Rodan. Rather, I think the other KOTM monsters will be taking those spots.

Kaijuemperor In reply to KaijuX [2019-08-15 00:22:41 +0000 UTC]

Well how about if NEO King Ghidorah gets resurrected a second time after his death as Kaizer Ghidorah and somehow in someway gets a new stronger body with the appearance of Legendary King Ghidorah, Hell perhaps after he gets Resurrected he finds a way to get an extremely boost of power enough to ascend to a god in order to combat Godzilla Earth that would lead to the Neo version of Anime Ghidorah

Who knows? However, all that sounds like post-Bagan material, so it's irrelevant to the events of KOTM (which I'm confident is still set in 2019).

Strikerprime In reply to KaijuX [2019-08-14 21:25:18 +0000 UTC]

What about what it says on his Godzilla Neo timeline, where it's theorized that Legendary Godzilla and King Ghidorah battled during the "Atomic Era?"

I mean whether or not the King Ghidorah that Legendary Godzilla fought is the same individual that later attacked Earth 65 million years ago and eventually ended up becoming both Kaiser Ghidorah and then MKG or is an entirely different individual Ghidorah created by the Garoga aliens remains to be seen. Since we don't know more about that fight or even its outcome like whether Legendary Godzilla managed to kill that Ghidorah or if he merely defeated him so that he could one day return.

KaijuX In reply to Strikerprime [2019-08-15 01:51:13 +0000 UTC]

I think the inference there is that Legendary Godzilla drove off King Ghidorah. Plus, it's a theory--nothing definitive. Though given the kaiju cliche of "theories are real," that's probably the case. We don't have the details of how that fight functions in the Neo universe; it's just speculation. But again, very strong feeling he was driven back to the depths of space by Legendary Godzilla and returned to kill the dinosaurs during the Cretaceous extinction event.

Strikerprime In reply to KaijuX [2019-08-15 03:28:54 +0000 UTC]

Though if that’s the case, why would Ghidorah return to Earth (be it by his own decision or under orders from the Garoga) if he or they knew there was something on that planet that could actually defeat him?

I mean, they would be returning to the planet millions of years later, so it’s possible they assumed the Godzilla that drove them off would’ve been long dead. And while Legendary Godzilla did not end up responding to Ghidorah’s return. I feel the Garoga wouldn’t be dumb enough to send Ghidorah back to a planet with life forms that could combat him without some sort of contingency plan in place.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KaijuX In reply to Strikerprime [2019-08-15 11:54:34 +0000 UTC]

It's hard to say. While Ghidorah is a creation of the Garoga (in Neo), I think Ghidorah kinda makes his own rules. That is to say, Ghidorah has a simple objective: purge life in the universe. So I don't really think Ghidorah collaborates with the Garogas, he's just following their orders. Plus, I think what you said may have been the reason; with millions of years passed and no L-Godzilla in sight, it was an assumption he had long passed (even if that wasn't the case).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Strikerprime In reply to KaijuX [2019-08-15 15:12:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I suppose it would make sense that it assumed Legendary Godzilla would've been long dead when it returned to Earth millions of years later. And since radiation levels of the planet would've been much lower than the first time they fought, its fair to guess that the Garoga also assumed the Legendary Godzilla species was now extinct.

ProudZillaFan In reply to KaijuX [2019-08-17 18:21:39 +0000 UTC]

Agreed Perhaps this new Red Bamboo was created from the remains of SCALE. That would be cool.

Man, I was really wondering how he would handle Ghidorah here, but using MUTO Prime is a really elegant solution. Although, it gave me an idea for Ghidorah. Perhaps the Garoga didn't create Ghidorah outright ... but only gave him a body. Perhaps the real Ghidorah is the one from the Anime Trilogy, which the Garoga worship. Since he can't exist in his normal state in our universe, the Garoga create these avatars for him.

KaijuX In reply to ProudZillaFan [2019-08-17 21:24:53 +0000 UTC]

Honestly, I was kinda shocked it wasn't SCALE. But hey, if it's a hybrid of both, I'm with ya. And yeah, MUTO Prime is suiting for the role. Plus, it makes sense given the circumstances. Fits in with Matt's "only one Ghidorah" mindset, too. Much like with Razin for ROM saga.

Maybe! That's certainly an interesting angle to take! Really curious to see how he handles the Anime Trilogy for Neo.

Fantastic! I like it more than the original, especially since it is more hunchback is a physiological detail that improves it and separates it a bit from the body of a gorilla.

The next one is Scylla, I have a bittersweet feeling, I like its design, but I hate the name they have given it!

In my opinion, the kaiju that most closely resembles Scylla the mythological Greek monster and would fit the name better is Kaishin Muba a kaiju from a Toho film and would rename KOTM design as the Kraken! That is why it will also be in the Monsterverse.
