BIO -
From the notes of Dr. Ishirō Serizawa:
May 2014
“MUTO Biology Files: SHINOMURA, male and female sexual dimorphism, behavioral, and life cycle analysis.
The male of the species begins life as a small nymph, roughly the size of a large dog or even a man, based on the remains found after the Battle of San Francisco.
The nymph then begins to feed on its host’s energy stores. This life cycle is not unlike that of the Tarantula Hawk, which attacks and paralyzes its prey, laying eggs in the body for its young to feed and grow, even while the host still lives.
My hypothesis, already presented to the MONARCH council, is that Gojirasaurus prodigious were mortal enemies of the Shinomura super species, and the Shinomura, while smaller and weaker than the ancient Gojirasaurs, were capable of incapacitating the reptilian beasts with pack-hunting tactics.
As the nymphs grow, they become larger and more powerful, with burrowing capabilities. They would gorge as much nuclear energy as they could muster before this process began, and dig themselves deep underground to feed on their own bloated bodies’ energy stores, as their bodies changed.
The males are smaller and more agile than the females. Not to mention that they are capable of flight. The females, by contrast, are positively massive, with armored bodies and powerful limbs.
Males apparently provide an “offering” to the females - evidently a nuclear-storage organ of some kind, or perhaps a smaller creature that also lives on radioactive energy...either way it is similar to the nuclear device delivered to the female in San Francisco. It is not a stretch to surmise that, if a male’s offering is not satisfactory to the female, she will either chase him off or kill him outright.
While the female is nest-making, the male will patrol the area and protect her with his life. The female also possesses fearsome protective instincts of the nest.
One curious aspect of these creatures is their bizarre mix of traits. They possess both endo- and exoskeletons; they have compound eyes; they have powerful electrical sensitivity; they have pupating life-cycles...
In this way, they are somewhat similar to Gojirasaurus prodigious - a creature that also possesses a mix of traits from other terrestrial organisms, such as gills, lungs, scales, a warm-blooded body with cold-blooded characteristics...it is almost as though the creatures from this mysterious nuclear-rich epoch of the Earth were the progenitors of all life on our planet...
We are finally learning more about the so-called 'Atomic Era'..."
ABILITIES/ASPECTS:
- Armored hide resistant to most conventional weaponry
- Capable of a variety of long-distance echolocation and other bioacoustics
- Naturally produced EMP ability seemingly evolved to counter the electromagnetic properties of Gojirasaurus prodigious’s atomic breath.
- Can lay up to 200 eggs at a time
- Female produces a near-constant sphere of influence that nullifies almost all electronic equipment.
- Piercing claws can penetrate even Godzilla’s skin

Hmm... What if the Shinomura was like Godzilla Earth in that their bodies are made from a metallic tissue that supports their weight due to the absence of a skeleton, they produce a natural electromagnetic charge that forms a forcefield which protects them from conventional weapons and can generate powerful electrical charges in their claws which send powerful electromagnetic blasts through Godzilla's body on contact?

So in this continuity the female muto is taller than even the 'standard' Godzilla?

actually shinomuro seperate kaiju all together the true evolutionary is the Jinshin-mushi
Granted Emma Russell is not sure where exactly Jinshin-Mushi fits into the Muto life cycle. She theories that perhaps this is the form the Female Muto would eventually mature into. Or perhaps it was the last of an older type of Muto and basically outlived its own newer offspring.

Any plans on updating the artwork to include Muto Prime (Titanus Jinshin-Mushi). AKA the new final form for a MUTO that was canonized in the Godzilla:Aftershock graphic novel? Don't get me wrong, I love your interpretation but it would be just as great to see your version of MUTO prime.

A version of the MUTO that should have been in the 2014 film, and I do feel very strongly about it.

MUTO Prime would be sick.
P.S. If you didn't do the artwork for G:AS (Godzilla Aftershock) you should have. This looks amazing!

I Like this better than the in film Muto.... anyone wonder if there could be a higher form (maybe achived by the offspring)? Maybe with Desotroyah hints?

Nah these guys are placeholder types and natural animal kaiju.
As it is they're enough trouble for base Godzilla.
There is a balance to dread and fear of the unknown in a story.

I have only seen muto in its adult and aerial form, not larva.

Its because movie didn't have time and kept the kaiju mysterious for their debut.
Plus the larva probably live within a kaiju and so don't see the light of day until they finish cocooning

are you saying the Shinomura are the same thing as the Muto?
i thought they were separate species from each other

MUTO is an acronym for "Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism", which means these monsters aren't given their actual names yet. I think Matt just used Shinomura's name for their own names.

Good Jod. At last a larval design for the MUTOs. It looks exellent
When you mentioned that if the female is not convinced by the offering, I thought she would just ignore the male.
By the way, I also thought that to raise on a prey, first the MUTOs would kill or derive the host before depositing their eggs on it.

Just checked, at least the male one has two fingers, they appear to be fused together and one is shorter than the other, so it's hard to notice.
EDIT:I can confirm that the female also has two fingered hands.
