After KING KONG’s epic battle with GODZILLA II potentially cost the giant ape his life, Pharaoh Island was still partially uninhabitable thanks to the massive upheaval that released the great ape.

Still, the refugees from the island pleaded to return to their home, and the majority of the islanders were returned to their broken land. The villages still stood, and even though offers and donations were made by the UN, the islanders all but totally refused outside help. After repeated attempts by various humanitarian organizations to provide aid (and perhaps bring just a teensy bit of colonialism), the island’s ferocious inhabitants and the frequent storms surrounding it proved too much trouble for the outside world, and interest steadily dwindled. Even scientific expeditions ran out of steam after the island simply proved too dangerous, even in the modern age of monsters. So contact with the mainland ceased, and the islanders were left to fend for themselves.

Fast forward to 1973. The conflict in Vietnam limped to its bloody, exhausted conclusion, and kaiju encounters were even starting to dry up. William Randa, a senior member of MONARCH, spearheaded an expedition to return to Pharaoh Island, or as he called it, The Island of the Skull, after old cartography charts from the pre-industrial era. Randa had studied the plant known as “Soma,” first discovered on Pharaoh, for nearly 20 years, but the supply brought back from the island had dried up. Randa believed the fruit could hold untold secrets of medicine and longevity that the limited amount brought to the modern world simply couldn’t reveal. He needed more.

Randa, along with a motley crew of a tracker, a photojournalist, two MONARCH agents, and a twitchy military escort, set out for the island. They believed that with modern military weaponry and the fact that Kong was gone, there would be no real trouble obtaining what they were looking for.

Until, of course, they met SON OF KONG.

The new Kong did not take kindly to their presence, especially when the team used explosive charges to map the island “properly” (Randa and his team at least tried to avoid any settlements. Small mercies), but Kong made short work of their escort.

What followed was a harrowing experience where the crew found themselves caught between Kong’s offspring and a new species of hyper-voracious reptile dangerous enough to threaten even the outside world. Evidently, after the first Kong disappeared, the SKULLCRAWLERS moved in to claim the territory for themselves. The inhabitants of Pharaoh walled themselves up in what became a massive fortress, and after discovering the young Kong, took him in and raised him as their protector. Once he was grown, the Son of Kong took the island back, defeating the Skullcrawlers and driving them back underground.

Now that the team had unwittingly awoken more of the beasts, including a huge, powerful “alpha,” called CHIROS in the ancient tongue of Pharaoh, Kong has his gigantic hands full....

Incredible strength, stronger than even Godzilla

A thinking animal, considerably smarter than most other kaiju, possible near-human intelligence.
Has inherited his father’s power over lightening, but is still learning to control it.
