Description
Reptile MonsterZILLA
HEIGHT: 50 meters
MASS: 15,000 metric tons
BIO:
In the bleary summer of 1998, thunderous footsteps shook the streets of New York City, and a shrieking roar shattered windows. Buildings were smashed, landmarks pulverized, fish trucks....eaten?
Headlines blared "GODZILLA TAKES A BITE OUT OF THE BIG APPLE!," "KING OF THE MONSTERS IN NYC!," and vendors lined the streets selling shirts declaring "Godzilla Was Here!" and photographs were taken in the massive footprints left in the monster's wake.
Of course, within days, it was all too obvious that Godzilla had NOT attacked New York, had NOT dug tunnels throughout the city, laid 100 eggs in Madison Square Garden, or died from 6 Tomahawk missles on the Brooklyn Bridge. It was instead a beast later known as "Zilla," or "Godzilla In Name Only" by the Kaiju Zoological and Enthusiast community, had chosen the metropolis as a place to lay its eggs and find food (WHY is subject to question). Despite the fact that the King of the Monsters had NOT died at the hands of the US Airforce, they sure liked to believe he did, and the announcements to the contrary were severely downplayed in the media.
Regardless, Biologist Nick Tatopolous knew that there was a very, VERY good chance that not all of the creature's eggs were destroyed in the blast that obliterated the nest. Leading a small search party, Nick discovered a lone egg. Hatching and imprinting on the scientist, "Zilla Jr," as it came to be nicknamed, began to follow Nick with incredible loyalty and intelligence, proving itself to be not only an efficient and agile fighter, but a benevolent kaiju at that.
The real question remained, however, as to where the original came from. That answer came in the form of Phillip Roche, and his protege', Monique Dupre. Part of a French Special Forces sector, the two were charged by their superiors to "clean up a mess" left from a series of experiments conducted in French Polynesia, were 5 "G-Cell Mutations" had escaped after a catastrophic accident (it is believed that S.C.A.L.E., a pro-kaiju rights organization/eco terrorist cell, was involved in these events). Nick Tatopolous, forming the H.E.A.T. team, hunted down all the remaining mutations, with Zilla's help, of course.
After a particularly traumatic event in Alaska, Zilla was later taken to Monster Island, where he would spend the remainder of his life...MOST of it, anyway...
ABILITIES/ASPECTS:
- Can run at 200 MPH
- Burrowing ability rivals Baragon's
- Can spit radiation-charged fire
- Very light healing factor
- Razor-whip tail
- Agility makes up for lack of resistance to heavy weapon fire

The 98 film as simply a monster movie isn't all that bad. But Godzilla it is not. The toys ad cartoon that that film spawned however are another story. Those were freaking awesome back in the day. Though oddly enough I feel as if Zilla was a remake of Β The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. Mainly because they do have slightly similar basic designs. And the fact you see very obvious tributes to Ray Harryhausen through out the movie.

I just recently remembered that Alan Tudyk was the voice of Green Arrow in Injustice: Gods Among Us and so yeah I can see him as the voice of Zilla, being all sarcastic and cynical but in that way you just love him for it as opposed to Godzilla's tough leadership style. Oh it would be great.

Well the parent was bad, the Child though far exceeded the parent in the animated series.Β That is the more I can say of the a few of the children of Godzilla(Godzuki*Shivers.*)Β Also I don't consider Final Wars Zilla to be Jr, just a representation of his parent.Β Jr would most likely have teamed up Godzilla to wreck face.

In the 1954 film it was not neccasarliy a dinosaur just a prehistoric animal which a refer it makes up for him being anatomically incorrect Β

This godzilla is more realistic looking then old rubber suit godzilla that is anotomically incorrect for a dinosaur. donkt get me wrong Old rubber suit can pull off some sweet moves in a fight but it looks to cheezy for this day and age what would be cool would be a feathered version of this one as a hatchling

Old rubber suit Godzilla was like back in the 50s or so. Most of Godzilla movies are old so stop comparing them to modern day standards like they we released in the theater.
Almost all special effects in the past look cheezy.
And why would it have feathers?

BUT he is no way cooler than the real goji.... Godzilla is a ancient saurian creature awakened and angered by nuclear testings in the 40s and attacks multiple times before it's seemingly killed by a chemical weapon called the oxygen destroyer, whereas zilla is a new species of reptile created by multiple species of monitor lizards and iguanas being exposed to French nuclear testing in the 60s and is asexual and decides to migrate to New York to birth it's young. After multiple sightings and attacks in New York, it's bombed by multiple submarines and apparently killed meanwhile it's young hatch in the now underground Madison square garden Β and begin to prey on humans who wear the scent of their favorite food, fish. Whoever after many human deaths, the survivors bomb the nest which literally fries and kills all of its offspring when the mother rises from the ground and sees it's young smoldering corpses and attacks the humans responsible, eventually it's bombed heavily on the Brooklyn bridge and killed, however one of its young survives and joins a research team HEAT and they track down monsters, TWO DIFFRENT THINGS! Now just saying that being asexual is prob my number 1 complaint anyway yeah I prefer godzilla great drawing frank u should continue neo series 3 soon π

In all honesty, I have a bit of a soft spot for the '98 movie, as well as Zilla himself. I was young when the film came out, so I saw it as a little kid who loved monster movies, not a hardcore Godzilla fan. Granted, I don't consider it a true "Godzilla" flick, but as giant monster movies go, Godzilla '98 isn't bad; it's the kind of movie you watch on a rainy weekend afternoon, curled up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn. It's decent entertainment, the biggest flaw the film has is its title.
The series, in my opinion, was one of the best cartoons to come out of the late 90's/early 2000's. They animation was decent, the characters memorable, and the monsters imaginative. I'm glad that, after weathering so much hate, Zilla is earning a bit more respect from fans.

Emmerich's Godzilla occupies its own SEPARATE continuity, since there was no mention whatsover of the original japanese Godzilla (apart from the unfortunate sailor who dubbed it "Gojira" merely because it reminded him of a mythical beast that he heard about and not necessarily the original Godzilla.).

Ah, but Godzilla NEO isn't just a bunch of redesigns of Godzilla monsters, but a fanfic universe created by the author that ties in every piece of Godzilla related fiction into one big canonical continuity. This includes the American Godzilla universe.

I like Zilla's appearance more than Godzilla. Zilla looks like a wingless dragon/lizard while Godzilla has a bear-like build with a weird head. He still looks cool, but Zilla looks more badass, especially since his limbs are longer so he can fight more flexibly by punching, clawing, kicking, and his atomic blast while Godzilla's physical attacks are harder for him to pull off because his limbs are shorter, like a T. Rex.

I honestly love Zilla - even more than Godzilla, to be honest. He was just so awesome to me, seeing as I grew up with him. Sure, he isn't the 'true' Godzilla, but I still love the monster all the same. You did a wonderful job - Zilla never looked better!

Wow, a lot of people really like to defend this one. I mean, it's really clever how Toho made him his own monster, but to me he'll always leave a sour taste deep in the back of my throat because of how he was originally created to live up to the namesake of GODZILLA. But I guess he gets enough love among fans that we can call this one an ugly duckling; a monster who started out being completely hated and reviled, that he soon became loved and protected. Like Meg Griffin.

I do agree he's not worthy of the title Godzilla, but if you guy's really think of him as his very own monster. He's pretty cool.

He's on my top 10 Characters I like but everyone else hates.

We can all agree that the 98 movie wasted the creature's (and also the movie's) potential by turning itself into a crappy romantic plot. Zilla had a lot of potential in the movie but it was wasted.

While I agree that Zillas no King of Monsters, I still feel he has a lot more potential then people are allowing to be seen, and the way Toho treated him in Final Wars was just appalling! Ok so the dude is smaller and weaker then Godzilla, SO WHAT?! We've seen plenty of evidence in both the movie and his son in the cartoon that Zilla is faster, more agile and SMARTER then Godzilla, and yet due to how everyone sees him as a failed experiment NOONE thinks to USE those traits and instead fall to making him the butt of everyones jokes, it's despicable! Poor beast gets crapped on all the time for little to no reason. Thank you Matt for giving it some attention. :'l
