Day 9 of MonsterMarch, and here’s another post it note drawing I did for a Toho produced Godzilla film. This time is the original Gojira (1954), depicting the scene where Godzilla destroys Tokyo and walks through the National Diet Building. Gojira 1954 has the gritty, apocalyptic and bleak tone that most of the other Godzilla films lack and actually shows buildings being destroyed, people running and getting crushed and Godzilla’s aftermath leaves the area covered in radiation, which kills those who have been exposed. That’s what makes Gojira 1954 so terrifying and powerful compared to the cgi Anonymous nose that is Kotm.
