Description This is the cropped version. I didn't really care for the lower part of the image but you can see the entire thing here .

This is my Colonist!Vanguard!Shepard who fell hard for Garrus by ME3 (My Kaidan romancing Shepard is an Earthborn!Adept/ Infiltrator). Garrus won him over with his loyalty and unwavering trust.

My ending for this Shepard and Garrus:
BOTH Shepard and Garrus, though gravely wounded, ends up on the Normandy as she speeds away from Earth. The ship crashes onto an uninhabited planet due to the shockwaves from the mass relay explosion. Everyone survives because Joker is amazing

Shepard is once again a simple farmer, and he wouldn't have it any other way. Their biggest worries now are growing enough food for the winter and the occasional incursion of local wildlife, but all in all, a peaceful retirement for these two soldiers.... and beer on the beach.

I was so caught up with finally having a gay option in ME3 that I didn't realize we didn't have a chance to romance the more complex males that have been with us since the beginning. Garrus is awesome, so much that I don't even care that he's not... exactly what I have a fetish for (*cough cough* krogans *cough cough*). Wrex was very interesting, and Grunt was quite captivating. Steve was okay, but still too new for us to feel like "Wow, we've gone through a lot together". I would, however, LOVE it if James was romanceable... for either gender, honestly... (Gimme the buff soldier, Bioware!!!). I know Kaidan is an option in ME3, but... I find him WAY too annoying to even look at him that way. Doesn't help that he shares the voice of Carth Onasi. VERY bad association... Anyway, enough blabbering on my part, awesome drawing, mate!

Garrus was an extremely complex and well written character... however my heart (and other less noble organs) were captivated by Wrex. That voice.... *shivers*

But you did these two great justice with this picture, I have to say.

Thanks!

I think both Garrus and Wrex are equally well written and well acted. Heck, I LOVE all the characters, except maybe Jacob.

I adore the deep friendship between Shepard and Garrus. But Wrex and EVE are amazing together! I'd totally draw them if I could draw Krogans...but Mordin is giving me enough trouble right now :\

Bioware cops a lot of flak for various things that they've rightly or wrongly done in their games, but a strength has always been the character development; they definitely hit a home run with Garrus, right down to the voice-actor they chose to voice him Even poor ol' much maligned Jacob had his moments if you stop to think about his character background, although I think BW dropped the ball with him a bit in ME3.

Wrex was an interesting one, especially in ME2, it was quite something listening to him when you first run into him on Tuchanka. And even in ME3, although you're quite right about the way he hits it off with Eve (I imagine my M!shep was a little jealous and put out ). Mordin... I have to admit to shedding a few manly tears in ME3 when he left to do what had to be done. Brilliant stuff.

But to draw them? Wow, yeah... cannot imagine how difficult it is to do such characters well. You carried it off very well with Garrus though. And your humans are also quite brilliant

Jacob has never made it through the suicide mission in any of my runs..I'm terrible to him. Actually, I can think of a worse character now: Kai Leng. What a disappointment of an arch enemy!

I feel bad for your Shepard. When Eve showed up, Wrex was all over her. Thankfully she's not going to take any of his crap. If she had not lived in my game, I probably would have sabotaged the cure, but female!Krogan rocks.

Mordin was sad...but the change in voice actor was very noticeable for me so it never really felt like Mordin to me. I was extremely devastated when Tali killed herself and when Miranda died. Amazing moments!

*sniggers* Poor, unloved Jacob - you are in good company, not sure that many people particularly liked him at all. Zaeed was the only one I didn't have the loyalty of during the suicide mission, but even he survived (quite how I am not certain). As for Mr. Leng - wasn't familiar with his character at all, not having read the novel he was featured in, so that whole section of him on the Illusive Man's base was a bit of a non-event really (other than taking several goes to kill him, tough sucker). Pity he couldn't be coerced at all, get him up to the Commander's cabin for a quick bit of wham-bam-thankyou-man stress relief

*ahem*

You're right about Eve - she was one of those wonderfully down-to-Earth and (emotionally) strong female characters that I love to see in games, read about in stories etc. Again, Bioware doing some good things with script-writing and character development there for a NPC.

Interesting what you point out about Mordin's voice actor - it was a noticeable difference, however after a while I tended not to notice being more interested in what he had to say. That line about categorising seashells... that made me cry like a crying thing It was quite good to see Miranda's character develop over the course of the two games to the point where even I was sad to see the exaggerated Barbie go.

Did you get the DLC that included Javik at all? What did you make of 'his' character?

kaijusizefeels In reply to LINCARD1000 [2012-06-09 02:34:58 +0000 UTC]

My unloyal!Zaeed survived ME2 but died in ME3. I was sad cause I thought he's kind of how my Earthborn!Shepard might have turned out if Anderson wasn't there as a surrogate father figure.

Damn it, it's not cool that I have to read the tie-ins to appreciate Kai Leng. He was totally wasted, barely a threat. And bang him, no thanks! My Shepard has standards Though I did spend some time plotting out a vague noncon....

I was surprised how much I ended up liking Miranda. Yep, genetically designed Barbie, but she's so aloof in personality; I felt really sorry for her plus, I'm pretty sure she has a one-sided crush on Shepard during her death scene. So Miranda > Liara in my book, though I really like Liara too.

I did get the DLC because I wanted to learn about the Prothean. Javik was eh.. for me except for a couple of scenes where I thought he would molest Shepard *maybe that's wishful thinking*. I think he would grow more on me if ME3 was a longer game or there were more character interactions in the game.

LINCARD1000 In reply to kaijusizefeels [2012-06-09 03:48:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Zaeed karked it in my first (m!shep) ME3 playthrough as well. If he is loyal, does he survive? I've got a renegade f!shep that got him loyal and wouldn't mind seeing him stick around if that is an option. It's quite neat that Bioware created the game in such a way that you could imagine all sorts of scenarios and backgrounds involving your character and the various other NPC's like Anderson.

Mr. Leng's back story was apparently explained at least a bit in one of the tie-in novels, but not really explained much in-game. Although I guess it wasn't strictly necessary as the small number of interactions and cut scenes he was in at least indicated he was the Illusive Man's pet assassin. But it did make his character very 2-dimensional, which was a serious opportunity missed. Being a writer by hobby myself, I love to delve into characters, backgrounds and the like so missing this key element of what he was about made him pretty worthless. Sounds like you picked up on that aspect as well, even if your Shep didn't want to bang him

So tell me more about this vague noncon you were thinking about!

Miranda started off all very aloof and professional, but there were cracks appearing in that oh-so-perfect facade of hers toward the end of ME2. And expanded on in ME3 also. Liara was a great character and weapon to have in your team, although I had to keep scraping her off my m!shep who was pining for Mr. Alenko all through the series; Bioware certainly went to great lengths to make sure you knew she was a love-interest option, the damned blue Harpy!

If there is ever a follow-on from ME3 set after events at the end there, Javik could be quite a nuanced character. Like yourself, I found him a bit to MEH and was always half-expecting him to follow up every second sentence with "...mon." Who let the dogs out, indeed.

I wish that they introduced Kai Leng's character back in ME1 so we see more of his antagonism toward Shepard. I like to think that he has a very similar history to an Earthborn!Shepard. Orphans, running with the gangs, against all odds joined the Alliance and excelled into the N7 program. But he did something to cross the line and was thrown out. I can't decide if Shepard avoided that fate because of Anderson's influence or if he's innately a 'better' person than Leng (My Shepards were always predominately Paragon).

Maybe they know each other in the N7 program. And Kai Leng was always jealous of Golden Boy!Shepard. I certainly believe that Leng was jealous of the amount of respect TIM still had for Shepard in ME3. Hence... uh, he tries to humiliate Shepard in the most brutal way possible and crosses yet another line. Sorry, not a sexy fastasy!non con here so I kind of stopped thinking about it, mostly.... I do like all the possible angst that could result from this though.

I see a sibling relationship between M!Shep and Liara. She's like his little sister (even though she's way older than him). Plus, the memory capsule scene and the end gift scene were amazingly sweet.

As for Mr.Alenko...I didn't care much for the character in ME1. I actually liked Ashley better because her xenophobia makes her more realistic. Kaidan was so gosh-darn reasonable that he's bland to me.
He was more interesting in ME2 because I like characters who says no/mistrusts Shepard (gosh I hate 'perfect' characters. Shepard is almost this but I headcanon him with a bunch of flaws).

After Horizon, my first Colonist!Shepard was like...no want Kaidan, you don't have my back and went for Garrus instead while a later Earthborn!Shepard was all forgiving and actually truly fell for Kaidan at this point. o.O

Javik's Nigerian accent was so apparent. I wish they did something to the voice so that he'd sound more alien

LINCARD1000 In reply to kaijusizefeels [2012-06-09 20:45:44 +0000 UTC]

Oh, Javik's voice actor is Nigerian? Whoops! Sounded Jamaican to my untrained ears. Completely agree, they modulated voices for some of the other characters, would have made sense they do the same for his as well.

You make a good point about Ashley being a more believable character in the first game, perhaps Bioware were sinking more time and effort into the characters that would appeal the most to the largest demographic that they thought would be playing the game (straight young and male). Heh, have to be honest and say that my preference was based more on male eye-candy than depth of character when I played ME1 for the first time Although Wrex's voice-actor... hrrrrrrr, shivers down the spine...

...ahem.

Kaidan on Horizon in ME2? When that was all over I was like "What the hell?! Nooooooooooooooooooo!"

A sibling type relationship between Shep and Liara? Huh, yeah now that you mention it that makes sense depending on how you play your Shep of either sex. Never liked her much in ME1 but came to appreciate having her in my various missions in ME2 & 3. Samara was also another strong female character I thought was rather well done by Bioware as well, more of a non-stereotypical Asari (i.e. one not just there for the whole blue alien T&A thing) which was quite refreshing.

So you have read the novel that goes into Kai Leng's back story a bit more, have you? Was that the novel that caused a big ruckus with fans due to various supposed non-canon things happening?

I didn't read any of the tie-in novels. That's where I draw the line in my Mass Effect obsession . I may have read his entry on Wikia though, can't remember.

I thought Kaidan was just cute in ME1&2 but he's OMG SMOTHERING in ME3. My main eye candy is Sheploo, so I'm good however the story goes. Very, very good

I DON'T role play as Shepard for this very reason because that would be kind of weird; I like to think of myself as more of a spectator that presses mouse buttons repeatedly.

Yes, Samara is AMAZING and really hot, plus I love her voice. But Aria dominates all!

Really? Oh, uh, I don't think so. You just have to keep ordering drinks at that bar until your Shep passes out. My m!Shep was *mostly* (75% or so) Paragon and could get the scene to replay without issue. Not sure if the look she gives him conveyed annoyance or merely bemusement. Or possibly even something more proprietary and protective...

That's it, nice and simple The interaction with Aria afterward is minimal, she just gives your Shep that look, there is no conversation associated with it. Just one of those little 'things' that Bioware does in their games that doesn't affect anything, but just goes to show that sometimes it is the little touches that make their work shine so well at times.

They certainly love doing little 'things' related to drinking in bars - the Batarian who ties to poison you in Omega in ME2, the Asari Matriarch running the bar on Illium

Oh I just saw the scene. Wow, that really was an inscrutable look on her face... so of course I had to fanwank a scene where Shepard bares his soul to Aria in a drunken stupor. Yet another idea for a comic -.-, but I need some help.

What do you think Shepard and Kaidan might seriously fight about? I don't think it will have anything to do with someone putting themselves in danger on the battlefield since they're both professional soldiers. But they must butt head about something...

The Illium bar scene was hilarious.

LINCARD1000 In reply to kaijusizefeels [2012-06-11 06:59:21 +0000 UTC]

Heh, you see what I mean? That look could convey many things, but in her own way throughout the games Aria seems to have a bit of a soft-spot for ol' Sheppy I think. My take on it was one of protective benevolence. Although it could also simply be her protecting an investment as well Your thoughts on her being the sort of person that a drunken Shep could confide in would work, I reckon.

Hmm, subject of a domestic between Shep and Kaidan? You're right in that both being soldiers the "in harm's way" source of arguments doesn't fly. Tricky one, actually. However it would probably come down to the difference between them in that Kaidan is a bit of a goody-good by-the-book type, whereas Shepard tends toward whatever it takes to get the job done, including the odd questionable thing (depending on how you played him, of course). It would likely stem from a conversation about what has happened to them both to get to this point and Kaidan questioning some of the decisions. Specifically which decisions would depend on you as the player if you went more down the Renegade or Paragade paths I think

I think she respects him for what he's trying to do...But if he ever gets in her way, she'd still put a bullet between his eyes, or break him down and keep him as a trophy like the old Krogan, or so she thinks. Yeah, maybe she likes him just a tiny bit. I like her because other than threats and a disdain for authority, she's not very forthcoming with what she's feeling, a bit like Shepard, IMO.

I was thinking that maybe they'd fight about Shepard 'killing' the Batarian terrorist in the cargo bay. Oddly enough, that's the Paragon choice (the moral choices in this game is questionable). I think Kaidan would say that Shepard should have kept him alive and contacted the authorities. Then things would get out of hand and Shepard runs to Purgatory, gets massively drunk, and talks to Aria. Then of course Kaidan comes and picks him up.... I want to draw this so bad but I need to think about what Shepard and Aria would talk about.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LINCARD1000 In reply to kaijusizefeels [2012-06-12 06:32:28 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I could see that Aria is a bit like Shepard in being a bit backward in coming forward emotionally. However the options in many of the situations are a little limited which is understandable given the limitations of programming an open-world type game but still maintaining a story narrative to prevent the player from completely running riot But she's not afraid of wearing the pants and I get the impression she would be the sort of character who would enjoy pushing Shepard into being forced to make certain questionable decisions, as she did in ME3 in order to rally support from the various merc groups.

Hmm, the scene you envisage would work, however as to what Aria would say to Shepard? I am thinking something along the lines of: "Man up, Shepard. To get what you need you have to bust a few heads open - not that you could tell with a Batarian..." (*nods at her Batarian 2IC who just narrows his eyes a little and turns away with a snort*) Perhaps with a few drinks under his belt, Shepard might second-guess himself a bit (if he was more Paragon) and be a bit of a soppy mess when Kaidan turns up to take him home. More Renegade and he might get blitzed and pick a fight and end up getting beaten up a bit, to be dragged off home and patched up by Kaidan

I hope they're planning on a DLC involving Aria, seems a shame that they'll only use the character in the tie-in comics. They should have made her the playable character for the iOS game instead of some random Ceberus guy. I think she had too much fun getting Shepard to do all the errands in ME3, but I don't think she'd force him to make any choices he wouldn't be comfortable with. She's like the person who will hand you a sharp scissor but it's your own damn stupidity if you run with it

I guess Aria and Shepard might talk about what extent they're willing to go to save the galaxy.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LINCARD1000 In reply to kaijusizefeels [2012-06-14 05:58:21 +0000 UTC]

Heh, that's where we differ I think - she might quite like/respect Shepard in her own way, but I don't see that stopping her from deliberately putting him into positions where he has to make questionable choices in order to get the deed done. That said, she wouldn't *force* him into doing anything untoward, it would be up to him to take that step, whatever it turned out to be.

In ME3 she wants Omega back, that is her prime motivation from what I could tell from the games and comics; saving the Galaxy is simply a means to an end - Reapers and Cerberus are bad for business She made it quite clear she was dead set on getting it back. So yes, a conversation like you suggest would probably be the most likely thing they would have, given how reticent she is about more personal matters.

I never looked at the iOS stuff - was it any good?

That said, the lead character looks a bit like an older, grittier version of Kaidan to me (well...he has hair and a square jaw ) so I'm totally pretending that it actually is a time-travelling Kaidan from a dark and disturbing future. Of course he'd have to join Ceberus since young!Kaidan is with the Alliance. The irony of it makes me laugh.
