Which Gamera? Now I can reason with that, though. But the approach to GMK was more serious than it was dark. IMO, a reason why G3 was able to pull itself off so successfully was because we got to know some of the returning characters and develop on the new characters and an excellent story. Not to say that GMK was bad, but it would have been cooler to see Godzilla getting the dark taste that G3 had.

In terms of which Gamera, a bit of each, though mostly combining the darkness of G3 and the massive amounts of action of G2. It was also cool to see Shinji Higuchi's jet attack scene in GMK, wish he would do an entire Godzilla film.

I would have loved to have seen Kaneko do a Godzilla trilogy, probably with a design like this:

I'd take that over GMK, hell, the entire Millennium series any day.

Well it IS called a heavy redesign, ya know? Just look at Gammy. The original and the Heisei are so diverse, that you should might as well call the first one Gammera, while the Heisei should be called Gamera.
