Description
A new wicked idea which emerged from conversation with ...on it you can see te british soldiers and their equipment after "Ares" project circa 1883, an infantryman of the 24 second Warwickshire Regiment and a private of the 21st Lancers mounted on a creature nicknamed "Spencer"..between them you can see a Marsian native....
Soldiers are equipped with Martini- Henry rifle with an oxygen tank necessary to ignition of the bullet inside the rifle...as you probably noiticed the British wear some kind of a gas mask...precisely a chlorophile mask converting the carbon dioxide (the main gas existing in Mars atmosphere) into pure oxygen...the rucksack apart from being a part of the gas mask system is equipped with a personal radio system used to communicate (a cable from the rucksack to the gas mask connects the microphone in the mask with the rest of the mechanism)...as you can see soldiers are dressed in a traditional red jackets, standard infantry and cavalry equipment of the period and colonial pith helmet..under the uniform they have a rubber spacesuit protecting them form the deadly UV rays which are stronger than on Earth, gloves and heavy boots...
crazy isn't it
this wicked project totally absorbed me and maybe soon you'll see a comic page or a battleship of the roal navy...it depends on the copyrights of battleships which I find better than mine which you can see in Scraps ...

Bullets don't need oxygen to unite. Gunpowder is a solid-fuel with the oxidizer mixed in.

I meant "**Gunpowder** doesn't need oxygen to **ignite**"
I hate that deviantart doesn't have edit buttons for comments.

hrmmm, it's been a while since I invented the whole universum...and now I'm starting to think it wasn't that good as it seemed in the beginning...both plot and art wise

I found it (and still does) very fun and interesting! Maybe it's nostalgia on my part but it's still very creative!

I'm keen to see what the Royal Navy looks like, in particular the spacesuits (which I'd wager a guess, look rather like diving suits)?

btw, have you heard of 'scarlet traces' ? its a graphic novel based after 'the war of the worlds'. Britain had taken the alien technology and taken over the world, later they invade mars

This is hilarious! You rock, dude! Why don´t you make a fierce ground-battle between the British and the German colonial armies? It would really be interesting to see how you converted an old school siege of a colonial fort to your martian environment. British space modified artillery!

This is totally awesome! I mean, it's like Space 1889, but with style! I've seen your pieces on the Russian and German forces, and I really like how you made the transition from uniform to uniform/protective suit with minimal change.

I know very little of it, but the premise was that Victorian Europe found a way to colonize mars, though I don't think it was half as well though out as what you have here. It was a board game, and later a computer version was made (on those cardboard floppy disks, no less)

even at the battle of Omdurman against the Mahdi forces in Sudan in 1898 British 21st Lancers were armed with lances... their charge is often described as the last british cavalry charge in the "old style"...and they are LANCERS not an ordinary chasseurs or something so why shouldn't they be armed with a lance?
