Description now's the time to present the German space battleships

space battleships of Bayern class (including SMS Bayern and SMS Baden) are the largest vessels in the Kaiserliche marine...Those deadly ships are an absolute elite of the Weltraumflotte and also peak of technological solutions in engines, armament and armour...Incredibly fast for a space battleships and powerfully armed are the apogee in the "dreadnought race" between the U.K. and Germany and excellent tools in naval warfare...Usually those beasts made of steel lead the rest of the German ships in every major navy review... the Germans call those ships "unzerstörbar"(undestroyable)...Even the British have respect for dreadnoughts of this class...they even started building their own super battleships (kept in a deep secret ) but this a material for a different story( and drawing )...

I hope you like it

Tylko zastanawia mnie jedna rzecz - jak on prowadzi ostrzał w rufowych wieżyczek, te silniki chyba mu troche przeszkadzają P

Why does an "undestroyable" battleship have exposed fuel lines? Seems like a tactical disadvantage for a warship in an arena where there is no defined "up" or "down".

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kaiser-Conti In reply to Doomsday-Device [2007-05-07 18:42:34 +0000 UTC]

but there is "up" and "down" here... read what I wrote to Andromedos about the tactics used by the fleets...
and the lines simply aren't worth protecting...two accurate salvos from main turrets of the other battleships are usually destroying the ship (but it's quite hard to hit a battleship which is continously maneouvring to "cross the T"

Doomsday-Device In reply to Kaiser-Conti [2007-05-07 19:02:23 +0000 UTC]

The fuel lines aren't worth protecting until the enemy realizes it can cripple the ship without destroying it.

*looks cofused at all the polnish comments*

Anyway, you did a good job again. A very high level of details. I also like the mix of dreadnaught pre- dreadnaught elements.
My only point of critisism would be the rear engines. They are placed way too much into the back turrets' line of fire. Those hoses too look rather exposed. In a space battle, where ships can move in three dimension, this could be a major drawback. Placing the engines more in the hull centre, and removing the central mini turret might be a better solution.

Kaiser-Conti In reply to Andromedos [2007-05-07 11:46:42 +0000 UTC]

ah! the famous German accuracy! I like it
now back to the main point those hosepipes are here to make this ship look a litle bit scruffy and to show that the technology in this world isn't as high as people may think and also every ship has sth like this

the tactitcs look more and less like this famous "Crossing the T"...the only difference is that ships engage enemy vessels which are more or less on the same "height" so the ships don't actually fight in three dimension "battlefield"- it's reminds a little bit of a ladder - ships on the one level don't attack ships from the lower or higher one (it's a little bit romantic and chivalric way of fighting but it's the victorian age

you're right about the engines ...but when I was drawing this I had sth whichyou can call "a berserk mode" when I don't care about the realism

thanks again for a sincere comment mein Freund!

During the battle of Lagrange Point 5:

*The "SMS Bayern shakes heavily, as hit by the fist of god.*
Admiral Tirpitz: What in god's name was that?!? Damage report!"
*Kapitänsleutnant Gehlen storms onto the bridge.*
Gehlen: Herr Admiral! Reporting, that the back turrets fired on our engines... again!"
*Admiral Tirpitz slaps his forhead*
"If I ever catch those Schweinehunde at the Himmelsschmiede design bureau...*

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Hmm... a honourable fight. I wonder what happens when the japanese show up in space, and decide to try it sneaky. Or maybe the germans invent a space- equivalent to their U- Boats. Oh, the possibilities.

no problem..that was funny...did you want to convince me to draw another German battleship -Rheinland

Fortunately the Japanese have small fleet without space-carriers ... fortunately the Germans and the British look after them carefully U boote would be fine but how can I make them invisible in space?

Andromedos In reply to Kaiser-Conti [2007-05-07 20:26:08 +0000 UTC]

Well, I can't leave all the fun to the southern jodelers, can I?

Interesting, the state of the japanese fleet. But one should never underestimate Nippon. The Russian leared this the hard way in Port Arthur, and who knows, something similar could happen on Mars, or elsewhere. The enemy that you think is harless, can often come around and bite you in your behind. I learned this the hard way in Hearts of Iron...

U- Boats... Maybe camouflaging them as astroids could work. Or maybe painting them pitch- black. Or some sort of mirror coating, but that might be impractical, since it would also reflect the sun and enemy ships...
Why don't you go and ask Mr Thomas Edison, or Prof. Nikolai Tesla, or Dr. Frankenstein? The Victorian era has some of mankinds greatest scientific minds after all.

Kaiser-Conti In reply to K-Zaitsev [2007-05-05 21:12:15 +0000 UTC]

alez dziekuje
Kriegsmarine("marynarka wojenna" ) to marynarka mojenna niemiec z drugiej wojny światowej...w pierwszej wojnie światowej istniała Kaiserliche Marine ("marynarka cesarska" )

No to rzeczywiście jest DUŻE o.O No tak nowocześnie wygląda... Bardziej już dwudziestowiecznie. Ja dotrzegam tu już pewien dryf w stronę "klasycznego" saj-fi, a to wrażenie wzbudzają we mnie silniki i w ogóle kształt okrętu - jakby czegoś mu brakowało z tyłu. Ale detale i całe to olinowanie... Gdyby nie ten nieco ucięty tył to by był kolejny fav
