Description
You really need to see this in its full size to appreciate it.Nonetheless ..
If love manifested as a visible infection, what would it look like? Would it end up consuming your skin utterly? Is it malignant? Benign? Both? Will it harm or heal you?
I'll leave it up to you to decide whether the hand is catching the rose or letting it go.
Media: black ball-point pen drawn onto my left hand for the infection; surgical tape and red food dye for the inexplicable wound caused by a thornless rose; a leftover rose from Valentine's Day; my scanner to take the "photo"; and Adobe Photoshop 7 for the monochrome.
(I had to hold my arm still in that awkward position with only my fingernails touching the glass for a very long time. I kept re-scanning because things looked not quite right. Ow. I so sad.)

lovely! i love the blending.... ooooh, methinks the hand is letting go.
i like the rose petal, but it does take away from the picture, in a sense. the colour of the rose is so full, though...

I really like this. The black and white with the red makes for a stunning image. I particularly like the red on the bandage. Mmm...Very good for a scanner shot!

wow thats awesome...great concept and idea. i think love would be like an infection but not on the surface...something that changed you deep down.
i used to draw all over my forearm in class with a ballpoint pen...i love your design
...the picture is really good. I love how you highlighted the red-ness of the petals but toned down the green of the stem. thats a really good choice the green would have been not so good in a picture like this.
the only thing that im not sure what to do with is that one rose pedal thats floating away...it seems out of place and kinda distracting
well i guess im rambling
great job!

very very nice! i'm not good with art since I usually have no clue what i'm looking for. However this piece has a lot of depth and emotion and I can appreciate that through any medium superb piece of work. I love it! nicely done.

cool "photo"! it was worth the trouble, it all fits together nicely with the metaphor and everything. i get the feeling that the hand is dropping the rose, but i guess im a little cynical about love...

excellent piece of work
the whole pice is very impactful
a rose without its thorns
bitter without the sweet
things that come to mind
i really enjoy how its frozen in time
and its up to the viewer to decide
that makes it even more of an exceptional piece

Very impressive for a scan. Definately looks like a 'normal' photo.

oooo I like it. the question is... if love was an infection... would you still want to fall in love? would you wish someone to love you? your metaphor raises alot of other questions ^_^
