Description ::EDIT::

I fixed up most of the things that were wrong with it, also i re-drew it in Sai for a better line quality.

Done for one of our final assignments for Layout Design. We were suppose to design a room of some sort with a character sitting in it, I thought a cheerleader character would be appropriate for this. We had three weeks to work on this.

Of course i left it till the last day to get everything done from scratch... again 83c

Regardless of me leaving it to the last minute again, I think this turned out really well I am incredibly proud of myself for this one.

I would very much like critique and/or suggestions as if i should add anything to this, as I would like to put this in my portfolio.

You got a really nice 3Dish effect on those, but her right arm on the first panel bothers me a bit; the way it's wrapped around her body gives me more the effect that's a piece of clothing rather than her arm... and seeing how I fail at describing I hope you don't mind I lined over the picture to show you what I mean (I hope you understand the lines and sorry again for bothering you with the characters on your pics x.x [link] )

And I agree with Para, that bear is so adorable ;A;!!

I'm glad it helps!

The one at the right shouldn't be seen as (in my point of view) would be hidden by the wrapping arm *forgot to mention that |D; *

You're welcome ^^

Eeeee I see improvements. 8D Very well done, miss Mel; two-point perspective is a very good way to practice drawing methods.

The cupboards and the hallway in the first panel is done very well. You've achieved something there that is very hard to grasp, and that is depth of field. The feeling that that person could get up and walk out of that hallway is there, and for that I applaud you.

However, there are a few mistakes that I can notice, but nothing too blaring. You've done well with your straight lines in both these drawings, but watch out for your curved lines. They're quite hard to get right, particularly in scenes like these that are dominated by straight lines. I refer to the lamp in the second panel; the lampshade looks somewhat dented due to the slightly off curve at the top. Same for the lamp itself; it looks rather flat and sticks out in this otherwise 3D plane. Try using cross hatching and/or light pencil shading on curved objects - it really helps to bring out a rounded feel.

I also like the details you've thrown in, such as the posters and contents of the cupboard. Nice bits of detail for the viewer to explore. On the other hand, this idea has also bit you in the ass a bit in the bottom panel. I can't quite tell what's going on in the bottom right. It feels like both the windowsill, desk and the back of the bed all meet in the same line, which is quite impossible. I think if you lifted the top line of the desk a bit, just to bring it away from the window a bit, you'd complete that 3D feel.

Also, that bear is adorable, and I really like how you did the pomp-pomps.

SorryforgoingonforsolonguwaaahIhopeIhaven'toffended. But it really is great to see stuff like this from you. ;u; I'm excited. Well done!

Your signature is very appropriate xD

Your comment is extremely helpful. You pointed out a lot of things that I overlooked!
I will defiantly make these fixes when I redo them for my portfolio.

Thank you so much Parararara~ <3

Haha, you're welcome! ;u; Glad to help.

Ooh, ooh. I have good tips for arranging portfolios, too. 8D!! I've had to arrange a few in my time.

Haha, yes!

Okay, obviously you know that your portfolio has to be as ranged as possible; digital, traditional (as many tools as you can practice with, that's pencil, charcoal, paint if you can stand it), cartoon, background and - most importantly - realism. Mel. I know realism is boring and hard, but trust me. You gotsa' have realisums. Or you're boned.

Ooh, another really good thing to include is a page of hand and feet drawings. You know, most companies involving animation, concept art - anything to do with artistry - will first look for if the artist can draw hands and feet. It's VERY important. Even some great painters of old used to hide hands and feet to avoid painting them!

Okay, and the big one: arranging the portfolio. You wanna keep the interest of the person you show it to, so! Start with something impressive and colourful, then move into smaller things, like lineart and practice art, something impressive in the centre, practice art, and end on your best piece for a lasting impression. It's important to keep the person's attention, and make them remember you and your work.

I hope that helps, dear. Best of luck!

I actually enjoy realism |D;;; (I actually think i have more realism in this portfolio then i do of my anime or cartoony stuff.)

Already got the hands and feet included 8D all ready to be printed

I will defiantly keep the tips in mind when i go to arranging it!

Thank you pararrarara <333

THAT'S GOOD. Actually, it's great that you have more realism work. Even anime artists in Japan have, like, 80% realism work in their portfolios, possibly more.

You're welcome Melumelumeluuuu <333
