“You see,” Ember continued, “not only do Kirins bear the same scales as our God in Heaven, but they are also the only creatures of equinity who can withstand His Flame.”
The mare did not allow the words to settle. She looked at the child and caught hold of her with a burst of telekinetic power, pulling Ingrid’s young form into the light of the sun.
"Kirins," Ember said, each word spoken slowly, "Do not burn."
Ember did not reconsider or hesitate. Standing with the sun at her back, Ember inhaled - and breathed fire.
The scream held hostage in Lilith’s chest broke free of its fetters. She wailed, the sound entirely inequine, her eyes reflecting the thick, blue flame that had engulfed her newborn daughter. The child gave a frightened bleat, but Lilith could not see her. There was only the fire, the bright light, reaching towards the sky as though calling for the Lord of Flame himself.
Someone, somewhere manifested a force field. The light shield struck Lilith hard, throwing the exhausted, horrified mother to the ground. Her cannons ached, showing red beneath what remained of her fur. “Ingrid!” She cried, struggling to sit up, “Ingrid-”
Her breath caught in her throat. There stood Ingrid, shivering in the light, smoke wafting from her glittering scales… and not a single hair so much as singed. Indeed, the child seemed wholly unharmed, save for the fear that had her trembling.
“Kirins,” The Adviser repeated, turning to address those assembled, “do not burn.”

The dun shook his head with a wry grin, convinced the best part of the show was over. But as he looked back and forth at his friends, his ears caught as the adviser's speech reached it's ominous climax. "Uh duh kirin's don't burn. Even a foal knows tha-" He started with a scoff, before finally realizing what those words meant. "S-Surely she wouldn't..." The fjord muttered under his breath, his grin turning into a confused smile, before finally turning into all out horror.

He watched in stunned silence as the black mare used Ignacio's own blessing on the filly who bore such a resemblance to him. Mouth agape, he leaned closer to Liri's side, seeking some explanation, or at least comfort, in his friend.

As the smoke settled, Einar looked unblinkingly at the foal, almost more stunned she survived the flames unscathed, than the fact that she was put through them in the first place. "Dear gods.." He said in hushed awe. She- she actually is a kirin. He took a moment to process this, trying to add it all up in his head. But the very idea of a living breathing kirin, being born to Princess Lilith of all people, he just couldn't wrap his head around it. And seriously doubted it he ever will.

Somehow, I managed to finish this on time. I am so happy I don't even care that the flames are supposed to be blue or that it needs to be fullbody for chapter bonus. Just....let me have this. :')
