Description The first of a small portfolio focusing on furry girls and guns.

The mountain lioness here is loading up the Samopal vz. 58, perhaps the most underrated of all modern battle rifles Here, I was quite interested in working out some way to show a cartridge ready to be fed into the chamber, while still showing enough of the rifle. The lady's primary fur color is 'goldenrod', which I think is always an attractive choice!

Pen and colored marker on Bristol board.

Nice drawing.Β  I love your choice for her color.Β  Although it's a bit darker than the actual color of a mountain lion, it's probably as close as you can get without actually mixing the color.Β  However, I do have a bit of a problem with your decision to show a round being chambered.Β  Unless she had just fired a shot straight up, which isn't likely with her holding the magazine like that, you couldn't see the round being chambered.Β  I know I'm being picky but it's the gun enthusiast in me.Β  All that said, please allow me to say that I absolutely love the drawing.Β  I would love to see more female characters being shown holding, and firing, firearms.Β  You must be one of VERY few artists who do this.

Sexy, skilled at combat, and proud enough to feel comfortable showing her sexy backside. Love it.

Really awesome drawing, with superb details on both the character as well as the weapon!

Know the gun well from my conscription times. Β It ain't bad at all, decent accuracy. During my whole service in Army it jammed ony once (broken striker/firing pin) Bogus is when firing in standing or crouching stance, it has sometimes the nasty habit of ejecting spent hot cartridges right behind the collar of shooter. (Ejection system sends them upwards). Wearing the field cap backwards did the trick in my case

This is my second favorite of your work! She's a lovely mountain lioness and has a cute butt too! Her green eyes are beautiful and I love her slight smile and she has nice hair. The pose is perfect, especially with the way she's holding her weapon. Excellent job!

I was kinda shocked (in a good way) when I saw 58 on the picture, since I am Czech and proud owner of CZ 83.

I'd say the only thing that seems somewhat wrong in this drawing is the muzzle. In this perspective it looks a bit more pointy than it should, giving more of a canine impression than a feline one.

Aside from that it's really good

I must say I very much enjoy the body posture on this work AND a wonderful and great touch on the already fed cartridge (dont believe I have seen you do that before). Also a great balance to the "wild" hair look to the green in her eye. I was afraid that perhaps my eyes would be drawn to the hair and stay there..nope I was wrong!

While this is really cool (those crazy Czecks engineers...), it kind of feels like the weapon is taking up too much of the visual attention. Im probably in the minority here, but my thinking is that the vz. 58 is all detailed, a bit shiny, and oriented for action, whereas the lady is simple, and almost expressionless (looks like a cold grin with cold eyes) and disinterested. It would make sense if she was in gear for some sort of assassination work, but as a nude/pin up piece by itself, its a bit discomforting.

I think I see what you mean here. I put the most detail in the weapon I think because that's what is easiest for me. I can see how her expression, rather than being more warm and inviting, might not give the right feeling (since she is holding a deadly weapon).

Well lookie there! We Czech folks didnΒ΄t even need to try hard at all and the very first post on your firearm serie is a Czechoslovakian make! And a pretty famous and still serving one, too! I canΒ΄t even tell how under-rated Czech arm production is as I know there have been quite a few breaking inventions that spawned now better known foreign designs, but Samopal vzor 58 is the piece for me to go with - ItΒ΄s has got the "smell of home" and being in servis over fifty years gives it enough credit in my book. ... The cat is a pretty thing, too.

I wanted to draw one of these for a while, because they are so overshadowed by Kalashnikovs. The Czech weapons industry is truly remarkable; we have them to thank for the Bren, the CZ75, and the cute little vz. 61 What I hope to learn someday is how they managed to stick it to the Soviets by adopting their own rifle with its own cartridge!

RadosBadger In reply to KalahariFox [2012-02-12 08:42:47 +0000 UTC]

Well, from what I can tell Samopal vzor 58 must be adopted from AK 47 - The design is painly similar and it happended under Soviet rule, unless I get it awfully wrong. But yeah, considering how small and peaceloving nation we are we made some pretty remarkable contributions to warfare, starting with VΓ‘clav Holek via Semtex and ending with TAMARA.

STG-44 also looks a bit like Kalashnikov, but it's just as different. Vz. 58 and AK-47 got nothing similar at all. Even mags are not-interchangeable. Only ammo.
