Description EDIT 4/2/15: I was messing around with colors, and I decided to swap Divide's. This might not be permanent, I might change my mind, but for now, her colors have changed. While working on my AP pieces, I realized it was hard to discern Puzzle as the father, because the two pups resemble Topaz so much, which is why I changed Divide; now it's much easier to tell Puzzle and Topaz are both the parents.

Eventually I'll make them a new ref sheet, but I lack the time right now, so this recolor will have to do.

---

It's aBOUT TIME RIGHT

I'm really happy with how this turned out; I've been planning the adult forms of these two for quite some time now

Pretty much everything you need to know about them is on their sheets, except for a fun fact about Strike. He got all of his scars (including the nicks in his ear) from a fight with an adult wolf when he was a teenager. The big wolf was threatening Divide, and Strike stood up for her and defended her. Strike was pretty battered and bruised at the end of it, but put up enough of a fight that the other male left Divide alone. Strike ended up with a series of scratches and bruises, but the scars in his refsheet were the only substansial wounds. Divide cared for him and helped him back to top notch, which is when she became less introverted.

This was shortly after Divide and Strike had left Topaz and Puzzle, both intent on finding mates and then raising their pups together as a big family. As soon as Strike was feeling fit to travel, the siblings went back to their parents for nearly a year before setting off together again.

Topaz and Puzzle don't have any other children after Strike and Divide so far idk.

I really really want to do a graphic novel with these guys and kind of revolving around Topaz and Puzzle and their offspring and stuff, but I'm worried I'll never get around to it. We'll see I guess!

I'm deleting their old refs tonight, too, so these will be the new ones!

Enjoy c:

I like the color swap you did with Divide, however I feel like it might be better if you lightened up the black/grey, but its just opinion. Anyways these are both awesome (and I know this is a tiiiny bit late but eh), and look great

Thank you for the input! I kind of agree, I was just trying to avoid losing her original colors ^^ And I'm still working out the kinks in the change, so thank you for the suggestion!

np glad I could be of use maybe
If I could sugest, maybe you could mix in some lighter greys with the darker one. It could keep her original colors and set her apart from her parents a little bit //shrugs
but honestly whatever you end up with, will look great! ^^

These are well drawn and the designs are plausible as puzzpazz offspring!

So cute and awesome looking! Made me want to upload a ref for indigo/Orion's kids XD

Thank you so much!! I adopted them a few years ago becausw they were close to Topaz's design, and back then I was super protective of her and I didn't want someone else with the designs

That makes so much sense XD. I get protective of Velocity's design as well, though she doesn't have 100% unique markings there are some minor differences that make her who she is XD. I actually had someone legit steal her entire character once. Whew.

Yeah, I was definitely very protective of all of my characters when I was new to the dA community, and I still am a bit. I know now that others can have somewhat similar characters; Topaz wasn't the most unique character in the world before I added some of her accessories and scars. If someone told me that they had an off-white character with similar off-black markings, I wouldn't be shocked. In fact, I know an artist who is really super nice on here and has this really cool wolf character. This character looks like Puzzle and Topaz collided together and were split down the middle. The character is really really cool though, and the artist and I talked to make sure we both knew that we weren't stealing or anything, but it was definitely an interesting thing to find

Very! Actually you did a commission for the person whose character looks exactly like Velocity XD.

It all comes down to the minute details (like you said, scars)

Yep, I think I know who you're talking about

But that's so important when designing a character/fursona/OC; there will be so many like what you've got in mind, so it's up to you to give it a story, accessories, markings, personality traits, whatever it takes to make it unique to you only

Omg right! I didn't know how much fun it was until I drew this guy c:

It's kinda a butt when it comes to coloring, but the drawing itself is fun

Awww they're so cute! I love how grown up they look and how you've really defined their characters X3

Hehe, thank you c: It was sooo much fun, and I was so tired of their old refsheets. I swear, the old ones were from like 2012, they were bases, and didn't even say that they were puppies urghhhhh, I'm so frustrated with me of the past for picking such a god awful base to use for everything

royal-violet In reply to kaleidoscopial [2014-01-03 19:07:06 +0000 UTC]

XD hehe I know I used to use WAY too many bases for my characters, I'm so glad I stopped doing that. It's just weird to have a gallery full of lineart.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kaleidoscopial In reply to royal-violet [2014-01-03 21:03:19 +0000 UTC]

Agreed. Plus, lineart and bases don't really capture any uniqueness in a character, like body or face shape, fur length, etc

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

royal-violet In reply to kaleidoscopial [2014-01-03 21:08:56 +0000 UTC]

Exactly, and style is kinda' a lost cause too.

kaleidoscopial In reply to royal-violet [2014-01-03 21:56:14 +0000 UTC]

Yep! Now don't get me wrong, bases and linearts have their place in the art world; I think they're handy for adoptables and quick, temporary refsheets. But when it comes down too it, there's nothing terribly special or unique that showcases anybody's talent when using a lineart or base....other than the creator of it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

royal-violet In reply to kaleidoscopial [2014-01-03 21:59:17 +0000 UTC]

Exactly because I don't have the patience to keep drawing the same thing again and again for adopts so bases are wonderful then. Other than that, I can't imagine what kept me using those things.
