Had this idea floating around. It seems like the only practical way we'd get a modern-day Grimlock is if he had a vehicle mode (because, y'know, a "Giant Space T-Rex" isn't exactly a robot in disguise). But we still need a Dino mode, so why not make him a triple changer?I decided to go with a Semi Truck. Why? Because Prime is a Truck and he's the leader. Grimlock wants to be the leader, so logically (in his tiny Dino mind), he should be a truck too.
I hear Grimlock is going to appear in Prime, so that's cool.

Age of Extinction? Not really. I mean, some are cool. I dig Crosshairs. But the overall lack of visibleΒ car parts on their robot modes just makes them look like robots as opposed to Transformers...

Not if he doesn't want to be a tank.
Personally, I feel TFs should stick mostly to civilian vehicles. They are robots in disguise, after all. And in Grimlock's case, he's already a giant, mechanical T-Rex. A semi truck is much more discreet.

true that. it would be cool though. Military humans just be like: ugly tank bro. its horrible and seriously, gold? halarious!: then he would just shoot them obviously pissed off at their stupidity then transform and eat the rest. lol. because Grimlock.
but another thing also is the version of him when he was a tank back on Cybertron. now that was cool. until Shockwave got at him :/ poor baby.

Or a type of combat truck, like the new Beast Hunters alt mode for Optimus? And you could add parts from FOC, like Grimlock's transformation is locked when he first arrives (plus he can't scan new forms)? Then a battle against Shockwave,Β Predaking and a mess of Vehicons and Insecticons, he overridesΒ the locking programming sequences, and at the end of the episode, he scans his urban camouflage.

Maybe. Hopefully we'll see the big guy in TF4, since he's pretty obviously not going to be in TFP.
And sadly if he is in TF4, I doubt he'll be a Giant Space T-Rex. I just can't see that working. Unless the writers get super creative.

Well yeah...after all whether the Autobots recieve those Upgrades or not the fact is Megatron has a horde of Insecticons, a whole bunch of Vehicons including those new White looking ones from The Darkest Hour, not to mention Predaking with the Predacons with Scream, Wave and Knock; The Dinobots will be needed more then ever

It apears that transformers prime is conected to fall of Cybertron, so Grimlock will already have his dino mode because of Shockwave (Shockwave frequinted ancient Earth for "experiments"). All the Dinobots have their dino modes thanks to him. The Dinobots were gladiators on cybertron with Grimlock haveing never been defeated.

Yes, they are in the same continuity (or continuity family since there are inconsistencies).
I was just thinking, should he appear in the show, what he could look like. And, as opposed to what I said in the description, it's not confirmed he'll appear. But Greg Berger is supposed to voice a character in Prime, so people are hoping for Grimlock.
But I digress...
