Part 1 of 4: “The Protagonists”

Aang just transferred to Elemental High. Up until now he’s been home-schooled by his parents, as they traveled the world. But his parents were recently killed in an “accident”, and he ended up being sent to live with his Uncle Appa and Aunt Momo (I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist!) Now he has to get used to his new life, but he’s very lost, both literally and figuratively. But that changes when he turns and looks into the prettiest pair of eyes he’s ever seen…

Katara’s the kind of girl who wants to help everyone. She’s the star of the school’s swim team, and belongs to many “activist” clubs, the kind that work to clean up the environment and things like that. She’s nice, but is sometimes aggressive with her opinions of what is right and wrong.

Sokka is Katara’s older brother, and he’s about one grade point away from getting kicked off the basketball team. He was mad to begin with at not being a starter, and now he’s got to study his butt off. But he has his friends to tutor him, and while it’s hard at first, some of it turns out to be interesting, and even fun... (I remember wanting some of Sokka’s hair to be loose, but I guess I forgot.)

This isn’t going to turn into a big fic or anything (I don’t have enough ideas for that.) I just felt like doing a modern AU.
