After so many cases of wolves drinking tainted water, Isolde had quickly learned what places to avoid. Delphine knew Isolde was smarter than that but luckily for her, no one else did. As soon as Brick had crossed her path, the most sickly sweet idea had crept into Isolde's dirty little mind. She had been dying to test the smaller wolf, and what better opportunity. Brick wouldn't back down from a fight, not unless she ran.

Isolde hung her head low, slapped a crazed smile on her face, and lolled her head from side to side. She believed her acting was spot on! She gnawed and snapped her teeth at the ranked wolf and couldn't contain her laughter while doing so.

"Gonna get you, little wolf," she told Brick, voice void of any emotion.

Luckily, she hadn’t fallen victim to the same poison that addled so many Kolwolves. She’d thought herself quite clever, to avoid the Brook before she even knew it was sullied - it was really just coincidence that she hadn’t touched it, but she liked to call it intuition, a natural instinct to steer clear of the waters that the dead were found in this season. Her mind was untroubled by foreign whispers and fever, and as clear as the Melusine… but a clear mind did not prepare her for this.

Brick glowered at Isolde, watching the tyrian she-wolf’s head loll strangely while she grinned at her from across the rocks. Her torn ear was mangled beyond repair now, drooping loosely sideways, the result of her packmate’s fever-crazed ferocity. It didn’t even cross her mind that it might be a trick - she was in the dark, only aware of her stinging wounds and fury. Out of her mind or not, she was not going to lose to a varen.

“You can try,” the dios snarled back and lunged.
