Prince Sol Ares Butterfly was the firstborn child of Princess Eclipsa and Prince Shastacan. For a dynasty that has traditionally sired females as their first, Sol's conception was needless to say, unexpected, though not unique (Queen Skywynne also sired a boy two centuries prior). This didn't deter his mother in the slightest, who reacted with joy upon holding him for the first time. Growing up, Sol was described as reckless, disobedient and arrogant, traits that endeared him to no one. His parents sought to remedy this but it would prove fruitless. Eclipsa was all but ready to deem Sol a lost cause until that faithful summer day of the 505th year. At the age of 14, during a tourney, Sol watched as his Uncle Kaitos's lance rose and impaled his father through the throat. The boy jumped from the stands and started tearfully pleading with his father to get back up. Though it was deemed an accident, Sol never forgave Kaitos and the incident instilled in him a deep resentment for his mother's half-siblings. Later that evening, a series of sorrowed howls would lead Sol to the Chimera roost, where he found his father's trusted mount, Marchosias, in mourning. By the end of the night, both prince and beast bonded. Soon enough, Sol abandoned his rebellious ways and became devoted to his mother. He initially disapproved of her marriage to Edric Flowers, but quickly befriended the man and later developed a great respect for him. By the age of 20, Sol was an accomplished warrior, tactician, and statesman and loved by both commoner and noble alike, a far cry from his former self.

In 516, after a unanimous vote, Sol would inherit the reigns of his father's homeland, becoming King Sol Ares Spider-Bite. Come the Strife, Sol would ride Marchosias many times into battle, all in the name of his mother, Eclipsa. During the Torching of Veradale, Sol rode into battle alongside his mother against his Aunt Corona. The result was the fiercest battle ever fought during the Strife but in the end, Eclipsa prevailed. Sol, unfortunately, suffered severe injuries and despite the best medical attention, would perish 10 hours later. In the end, he never sat on the Spider-Bite throne...

All was not lost though. Months prior to his departure, he wedded the Lady Violet of House Venom and after 10 months, the now widowed Violet would give birth to his son, whom she named after him. His legacy lives on through the current ruling family of Spider-Bite. - Charles of Nyros

My first attempt at converting a sketch through digital hand. All in all, I think it came out okay, though I wish I could have done better work on the shading.
