Oncelers father was a humble inventor. He created mostly whacky and useless things, that half the time worked. It amused his wife when she was younger, but in their current marriage did not please her at all since his creations could not put bread on the table for their family. He would be gone for great lengths of time to try and sell his works, but noone would buy. But that didn't stop him, he LEAKED of optimism and pride.

That not only showed in his art, but his love as well. He was much more affectionate than any other parent in the town. While his wife was pregnant with twins and couldn't work, he completely devoted on his son Once-ler, doting on him at every possibility he wasn't working. His happiness drove him to keep on his path of dreams.

...But. No matter how much he tried, his inventions would not sell; He refused to try any other job. His wife was fed up with his efforts and was convinced by her sister to leave him, forcing him to leave the home for good. He had no other choice, but he'd keep trying anyway. He would come back for those that loved him someday with success and fame, they would be proud.

He died in an accident in a factory many years later, but the family heard no news of it. As Once-ler and his brothers grew older, their mother simply told them their father was a complete failure and no-good, Making him a forbidden subject to never be brought up again. Most agreed and pushed the subject to the side again but...

Once-ler never forgot.
