What sucks more than an iconic characters entire history being wiped and the look more or less completely changing beyong recognition? The fact someone beat you to it

I was going through my stuff and found this redesign of Superman I done. The idea I was going with was he was a younger Superman, maybe immediately after Smallville, and the costume was actually more a spacesuit thus the seems and stuff. I kept the whole cape being the sheet he was wrapped in so tried to keep its length quite short. I read in Wizard Magazine once Ed MCGuinness done a "How to draw Superman" tutorial and said he felt the cape should never come any lower than Supes' knees. He doesn't have a long cape, that's Batman's deal and I totally agree. The 'S' I updated my original design a little, made it look less awkward.

But yeah, this was my redesign, and DC beat me to it. Ah well.
