Description Our escape has become our burden. I don't understand it, but it seems we always try to push away from the things that are part of our lives.
So, heres your chance. Its your stop.
This is where the world gets off.
Nowadays, things all move so quickly - and its hard to know when to stop and take it in. We go, and we go, and we go, but where do we stop?

More from my wanderings in downtown Vancouver.

and yet to stop and think about it for a moment would be like throwing ourselves in front of that train to try to stop it.
great piece!

the only thing here is a small compositional thing where i see this sign on the right hand side and only a bit of it so it doesn't seem to fit in very well

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kamikazefowler In reply to PeggyArmstrong [2007-07-31 21:54:47 +0000 UTC]

Ah yes. I never noticed that. You see, I had to crop it to print it as an 8 by 10, and took it off that side - hence why theres a half of a sign or whatever. But still, thank you very much for the critique.

very, very nice.
honestly you don't need to be in the thumbshare forum searching for a critique because your work is beautiful.
the most that i can say is to keep experimenting and taking photos because i think that the more you become comfortable taking them, the more they will reflect yourself.
and as for the description of the photo, i'm lost.

kamikazefowler In reply to madeleine-01 [2007-06-15 14:22:44 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much. And I agree, taking the photos is the only way to develop your skill and style.
As for the description, the gist of it is that we are always so busy, and we never take the time to stop. So, more or less, I'm encouraging people to take the time to slow down, and admire their surroundings once in a while.

This is a good motion blur shot, but I think it might be even better if you had caught it just slightly more opaque so that it doesnt look like a light fog.

Reminds me of time passing quickly. Got a real nostalgic feel for me. Having spent nearly every day for a year waiting for trains on a desolate platform.

Thanks. It took quite a few shots to finally get this to turn out how I wanted it. Good thing the train comes every 5 minutes or so.. Haha.

Great job on this shot! I love the strong yellow safety line contrasting with the surrounding gray. I also really like how you captured the movement while allowing the far wall to remain visible. (Those signs on the far wall are great too!) Very well done!

kamikazefowler In reply to PatheticKt [2007-05-29 13:17:24 +0000 UTC]

Haha, thanks. I've got a bit of criticism about my thoughts - mostly that they are just wanderings, nothing absolutly specific. It's good to know that a few people don't mind.

indeed, we never stop anymore. it is so hard to find urself in a world that never stops, and it is harder to find someone for urself if they never stops... i like it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kamikazefowler In reply to JoGe23 [2007-05-29 02:45:35 +0000 UTC]

Haha, quite. Whats worse I think is that some people can not realize they don't stop anymore - it's simply the way it's always been. I think they're missing out - stopping once in a while is wonderful.

JoGe23 In reply to kamikazefowler [2007-05-29 03:13:45 +0000 UTC]

yeah, they are just too "busy" to stop... haha, well, thats their life,. we cant do anything for them, maybe just do what we do, and see if they get the message.

Motion blurs are something that everyone loves to do, but few do as well as you have here... the focus, composition and natural gradients you have captured here are far better than anything I have seen in awhile. You did a great job on this photo !

I struggled with this shot a bit, because they are somewhat cliched. So many people do them - but like you said, I think this one turned out fairly well.
Thanks for the fav.
