Description

Taken from an interview of the Sandwing, Xerocole:

Tenufolia
My father is a hard dragon. Very stern and quick to disappoint. He wanted very much for me to go into Botany like my sister. But, I wanted to go into a different career- to go into a medical profession. He essentially cut all contact with me when I got my first job as a Resident. But, behind all that, despite being a sub-par father: he was a loving husband. He loved my mother and Peat, and it only made him more and more bitter with their deaths.

Peat
I wasn’t born when Peat was alive, so I only know her from my sister and my father. I learned that she was a sturdy dragoness. She was stubborn and took no backtalk from judgy dragons. She did spoil my sister a bit, but I’m sure she meant it as a sign of love. When my sister was 4. Peat died from a heart attack at a friendly gathering.

Biota
My mother.. she was radiance itself. She brightened every room that she came into- and not just because of her scales. She was always so kind and encouraging, no one was nervous around her. She brought out confidence in dragons.... I miss her. She was the one who got me into becoming a trauma surgeon. When I was 10, she died in her sleep after battling pneumonia for two months.

Peony
Peony is my half-sister. She can be a bit much sometimes as she’s a very judgemental dragon, but she tries her best to get Tenu’s approval and raise her daughter right. She pretty much avoided me majority of my life, and the years I spent away in university kind of further disconnected us so when I came back, she didn’t really bat an eye.

Botrytis
Botrytis is a good dragon. Very quiet and more or less does what Peony wants him too. He and my sister met at a flower festival that the family was participating in and they’ve been together ever since. His family focuses more on cacti and succulents rather than desert flowers. I hear he got the scars on his face after trying to take on a pack of coyotes when he was 2 years old.

Marigold
My neice, Marigold was a great kid. She did good in schooling, but she went through a mild rebellious phase which led to her running away to crash at my home often while I was working as one of the town doctors. Peony wasn’t happy to have to come over every couple of days to drag her back home. I loved her, but last I saw her, I said and did some things that I hope she’ll be able to forgive me for.

Canyon
Canyon is a good kid. Really childish and witty when I knew him. He was a moron at times, but he was Marigold’s moron. He genuinely loved her and would crash with her when she left home. Peony was always so harsh and callous towards him, I never really thought it was fair of her to treat him that way.

Mindflayer
I met Mindflayer while “working” in FAE. I’m not proud of what I did in that place, but I am glad that I met Flayer. He worked on brains and the nerves of the dragons we operated on, to check for working or adequate mobility, while I worked on the damaged skin, muscle, tendons, organs- the severed edges. Blame it on trauma from working there, but we’ve bonded during our time there. I care about him.

“You said everything about Marigold in past tense, why is that? Isn’t she with her mother?”
“Oh, I misspoke. She’s not with Peony. She and Canyon ran away shortly after Peony forbade them from being together. I-I don’t know what happened two the both of them.”
