Not only that her parnets get the daughter they always thought she was only to find out that as the title says in imperfect because she can only do as what their image of her would expect her to do.

I also thought would cause a role reversal for mother and daughter. As Poppy(Toph's mom) tries to get to act like her old self again dressing tomboyish, getting dirty all the time, and having almost no manner. While Toph acts exactly like her mother wanted her too and is now trying to get her mother to 'act more ladylike'

While Lao does everything in his power to prevent Toph from being discovered as windup doll in fear that she been dismantled or used as weapon of the Kingdom as Toph still has all her skills as Earthbender it just she does not view it as ladylike because her must being a helpless defenseless blind girl programming(though she still walk around on her own)

Ah okay. That makes a lot of sense. I can imagine Toph's mother falling for a similar fate as her daughter, nothing but a mother doll with a daughter doll.

A mother wind up doll that loves getting dirty and acting in unlady like manner while the daugther is the exact opposite. The strange thing being as humans their roles were reversed. While Lao becomes very protective of the two of them in different manner as he ends shut himself up in the mountains allow Poppy her freedom and Toph the home life they both been programmed to want

Thinking of going two ways with this. One being just following the storyline and another is going into more original direction where other Avatar Girl ended up like Toph.
