Description
My entry into the Fantasy Earth Zero Competition (... that's fairly obvious ... hahaha).Close up/character story for Scout: [link]
Close up/character story for Warrior: [link]
I didn't manage to fit a mage in there, apologies to magic fans. The piece features a Warrior and a Scout... and a summoned Dragon.
I suppose the mage became the dragon and left her staff behind...? ^_^;
Anyway, next batch of uploads will be more character sheets and commissions, stay tuned!

This is actually really great. `.` Though I'm curious as to why the yellow-eyed fellow isn't looking at his opponent, instead staring INTENTLY at the ground, haha. That being said, the interactive dynamics of this piece are AMAZING, fantastic composition.
(What sort of miniatures do you make? Completely unrelated tangent.)

Thank you XD
Well, I had the eyes looking up at first, but it didn't look right, because this is the moment as the axe swings down, so the focus from the warrior is on where the weapon was aimed. I sort of want to do another in the same series with the warrior aiming for the scout on the next upswing...
But no time T_T
Yeah, I'm curious too! ... Since all I do with clay is make armor.

Well, I'm a former fencer and martial artist, and the idea is that in combat, your eyes never leave your opponent (mostly to avoid any unnecessary surprises, because you can read minute changes in body language). This rule applies to polearms like the weapon you drew.
Additionally, it's also a comic/manga principle because when two opponents are constantly looking at each other, there's an eye-contact intensity going on. (You see this in cinema, too. The only time a person doesn't look at his opponent is if he's overconfident or isn't taking the enemy seriously.) I guess that's why I thought it was a bit awkward the halberdier was staring at the ground, because in a real battlefield situation you'd get beheaded pretty quick if you weren't looking at your opponent to read the next move.
Anyhow, just some food for thought.

Thanks XD That was really detailed.
And yeah, if I had positioned the scene just a second later I would've had the head lifted, though I tried that first and it turned out a bit awkward (didn't allow follow-through for the axe swing with the body tilt).
I'm going to block the next one out with our cosplay weapons before drawing. Since we have giant scythe lying around anyway.
Thanks again ^_^

Pretty much. It's still a fantastic piece, so don't take my mention of such minor a caveat too hard. I just thought you deserved at least some explanation for why I said what I did... I still really like the composition, it's superior to anything I've done as of yet.
Best of luck to you in the contest, mademoiselle. I shall root for you. `.`

Thank you again XD Had a discussion with my ex-SCA partner and he said the same, and came up with the scenario where her eyes would be forced down (unexpected parry).
Love the detail, please give me more such info in future! <3

Miniatures sound fun, I wanted to make ball-joint dolls, but it's expensive and I haven't had the time.
I do indeed cosplay ^_^ We love cosplay! Though you're right, it's rather expensive...
