But does it have a caged demon at the top though?
Really like the shape of the water, the detailed brickwork and the smokey clouds. Only two things somewhat bother me, namely the waterripples around the pier/bridge, as they look rather perfectly round while the water around them isnt very calm, and the overall light of the scene seems fairly bright, like the lamps cause the surrounding to be lit as if it were a bright mid-day.

See how the scene is a lot darker, like someone layed a transparent dark plastic sheet over it? Thats what I meant.
I have copypasted your tower in GIMP and started to randomly mess about with the colour balance and such, and ended up with this. I noticed that no matter what, the sky always seemed rather light. Perhaps this is what partly gives it a rather bright feel? Anyway, here it is . I think adding lighting to those lamps too will make it look real good

Yea I see with how the sky is suggested the lighting should be somewhat darkened
(did intend for it to be daytime though), and give a hint of fading/ fog and atmosphere.
At the time of day of the modified image the lamps would look good.
I'll see if I could find the original file do some modifications sometime.
