I have to say, the crooks the gang always went up against that always kidnapped Daphine were certainly idiotic pervs.  Velma, from my memory, was always able to find the clues needed to stop the plans of the villans or get the clues needed to help solve and crack the case.  As much as I love Daphine, she didn't play much to help the group in the mysteries other than being the "hottie that gets bound and gagged".  By taking the brains away, the group would be having MUCH more difficulty trying to solve the mysteries.  The crooks might even get away with it, and take Velma as a "prize" for their efforts.
