I needed to do another dynamic (not really) pose, so I chose Ruby as my subject. :^)Season 3 finale got me like (」゜ロ゜)」 but with this face that almost wants to cry, but isn't quite there yet.
Anyway, last post until..probably awhile. Final stretch until I graduate!! AND IT'S GONNA BE HARSH. Lots of studying incoming ( ; v ; )

Its great, but I have noticed this occurring with a lot of artistic renders of Ruby and other RWBY characters: the characters look a lot older in the art than in the show and this characteristic is present in yours as well. Is this deliberately done by a lot of artists? I know the show producers did similar art (characters looking older in promotional art) with their promotional images, so is that where the trend originally came from?

Does it? She looks fairly young in my representation, compared to other artists I guess.
Many people also reference her official art. The official art by Einlee depicts them as young adults too, rather than teenagers. Also, the thing with the style the animation uses is that it's pretty simplified, making them have the generic young anime look. That may also contribute to why the students look much younger.
Also I feel like it makes more sense for them to look older. In my opinion, it's weird that they're so young (Ruby being 15 is weird to me, personally) but idk it may be the same to other artists too.
