Ah, so you raised the aperture to narrow your depth of field
But, ehm, enough shop-talk.

Great shot, I just wish I knew how to get someone to throw me that pose.
I never got past [link] and that was with a lot of, ehm, coaching. (Apparently, she's scared of camera's).

I get another shot at this next tuesday at Christmas Dinner...

(i feel like a loser responding to you now, a month later.. i'm sorry!!)

hahah hmmmm it's not hard to throw a pose. But when I photograph people I like to catch them in between poses... everything seems more natural that way, and they tend to just look better when they're not trying! hehe

But keep going mang, you'll get some great shots!! hehe

Late or not, you do make a good point.

Because she is so camera-shy, I got a 300mm lens and dusted off my 'real' flash.
Unfortunately, the lens was not 'stabilised' and shooting a portrait at 50ft can be a pain without a tripod.
(the lens has since been returned to the store)

However, I think both she and I actually had fun and now I have a great excuse to meet up with her later on.
(for camera practise, of course!)

ahh sucks!! sorry to hear that! Hopefully your flash works at least, there's lots of neat stuff you can do with a flash

strike2 In reply to karae [2009-02-17 19:59:30 +0000 UTC]

Oh, baby...
I just got my grredy mitts on a Nikon SB600 flash and I absolutely love it!
It auto-calibrates together with the camera and it can fire as quickly as I can hit my shutter.
I've spent 2 full evenings flashing the daylights out of a bar full of drunk students and they keps coming back for more!

I was actually taught that this kind of photography was called "selective subject", of course I'm translating as I was taught in Spanish. But it's basically that, open aperture and focus on one object and the rest is blured.

Oh.. how I miss film photography! oh and by the way... I think I've already said this but... I'll never get tired of seen you! In fact keep throwing them!!
