SHE SUURRRE IS!i have been so uninspired lately. so i did some stuff for Mr. Mime . this time he actually asked for it.
now that i've done all his main characters, i'm apparently doing his less known ones. *shrug*

You seem very concerned about unloading your saved up pop culture
references. The references aren't bad on their own - you just have to
make sure that the pop culture reference isn't the ENTIRE joke. Hang
on to your references, but don't put them on paper until you can take
them that extra step - something unique. So don't think you've been
abusing this classic cop-out, because you haven't. But, like I said
before, it's very tempting to slip into this, and sometimes the lines
are fuzzy.
And don't be too depressed about the publishing thing anyway. Small
writers who get published usually get a crappy deal. That's why so
many of your favorite webcomics have decided to self publish, either
just on the net or in printing small quantities and selling them
privately. When you're tiny, it's better to keep your options open
and to have full control over your product.
I briefly looked at the link you dropped there. The featured artwork
looks a little "tighter." Is it new. Again, I'll look later.
And I hope you get some good info from Josh or Sam. In my opinion Sam
is about the most talented, deserving comic book writer/artist on the
internet. His writing is a little edgy, but totally accessable, and
his drawing style has improved by 10 times since he started. It
should have been picked up 2 years ago. But... that's how it goes.
