Description
Species: GalenaSpecies Status: Closed
Class: Warrior Tortoise (Reptiles)
Life expectancy: 25-40 years
Size: See Reference (Females are slightly bigger than males)
Diet: Omnivorous, but they prefer fishes
Temperament: Gals love water and are very territorial when it comes to their stretch of water. A mated couple stays together for life and usually has just one or two Lenlings, which stay in their parents territory until they reach the sexual maturity, around 4-5 years. If not threatened, they have a very calm disposition and a hoarding problem. To court the females, male Gals decorate their shells with everything they can find, and sometimes the sheer weight doesn't let them stay afloat. So they take everything off to surface and start collecting again. Females have the same problem, though they only do it for vanity.
Usage: Galenas are natural treasure hunters, though they do not care a lot about the difference between a pretty coloured shard of glass and a ruby. Pretty is pretty, after all. So people seek them out to exchange trinkets with the more valuable stones and objects that the Galenas have found rummaging here and there. Of course, the exchange rate must be one-to-one or the Gal will be pissed and they are quite strong, especially in water. But deadly accidents involving Gals are quite rare.
Also, Gals are strangely attracted to human children and find them intriguing and worth investigating. Children are the only ones that can take a trinket from a Gal and not expect a violent reaction.
