After I was done with this one.. I realised that I liked the wip version (the first image) more than the finished one (the bottom picture).. Too late. The file's overwritten. Bleh.. I'm not sure if we're gonna be friends, I gotta lose the tendency to over-do things first.I think I would be happy with it if I added all the architecture details to the upper one. Minus the colors and all the glows, blings n shit from the bottom image.. Double bleh.
Well, next time should be better.

I'll be another vote for the first image. Black/green is just so evocative and dystopic. The second image does have beautiful detailing though.

One looks like a reflection of a post-industrial city that can(or will be)seen all around us...both have that edgy-not-quite-maintained look one sees today.No matter if it's Asia,Africa,The Euros or the "New World".

I think there's an option in most art programs that lets you make the picture monochrome... not as in black and white, but black and any other colour you want. You could use it on the second picture to make it green again....

I like the wip more than the end result. Layers girl, LAYERS D: Then you don't have to worry about the earlier stage get "ruined" *layer geek* . But I think they look good. I would deffinetly love to see such a landscape/background in a scifi movie

Dude, I've got all the layers.. The thing is that I'm too lazy and I've got too many cause I don't really care when I do stuff for myself and my file's are a real mess
That's different at work, keeping everything grouped, with different colours.. Scares even me
But yeah, hopefully with the next one I just won't overdo it..

Hmmmp. I like them both. I guess I'm actually more fond of the top one --I only miss the girl and the blimp and the cables found in the bottom one. I think if you added those elements to the top one it would get even more interesting than it already is. Really nice work, both.

I can see what you mean with the two pictures, but I really like the end result too. I think that they both individually portray different aspects of the city, and I think that's cool.

I agree with you, I like the top one better. Couldn't you fix it by adjusting color levels / hue in Photoshop?

Bottom image ftw. Top is drab. Lacks punch whereas the bottom image has contrasting colours that makes things pop more. If you'd have shown me just the top image I'd have shrugged at it and continued on my merry little way.
The only thing I'd say about the bottom is to shift that airship left some. The way it lines up with the figure is awkward.

I honestly like both images equally, thous the spear/light pillar thing in the second image is a bit bright and overdone. Nevertheless, they are both beautiful pieces.

I hate doing backgrounds and land/city scapes.. I dunno.. I guess I'm all about character design. But there comes a time when you gotta try something else for a change I guess and I'm really hoping it will also bring something into my character drawings.
