* this has been a long time coming lol the prequel to Softhearted -- I don't think I ever stated, but you're a human from the human world.

Kyuuta looked at you with a frown," (y/n), how'd you end up with someone like Kumatetsu?" You stopped sweeping at the question and gave a soft smile at the though of how you met the beast. Everyone also stopped, overhearing Kyuuta's question.

Tatara butted into the conversation, " I heard that he saved her from a bear in the human world." You scoffed at that, "Why on earth would he have saved me from a bear?" He shrugged and raised his hands in defense," Hey, don't hurt me, I'm just saying what I've heard."

You rolled your eyes,"Don't listen to him, Kyuuta. That's definitely not how I met Kumatetsu." Tatara took a seat near Kyuuta at the table, "Then how did you meet him?"

Propping the broom against the wall, you took in a deep breath and sighed. " It's not ,much of a story." Tatara shrugged, "We got time." Kyuuta nodded fast.

You walked over to the table, sitting in front of the two. "It's nothing major really." Kumatetsu poked his head out of the house, "Nothing major, my ass. You met the love of your life that day and you dismiss it as "nothing major"?! " You rolled your eyes at his dramatics.

"Okay then, drama queen, why don't you tell it then?" He fluffed up and hmphed. "Fine. I will!" He stood up heavily and stomped over, taking a seat beside you. He grumpily took your hand in his, all the while of holding it gently. "Get ready for a story, brat."

You ran a stand in the market, it was nothing extravagant, but the food from the human world tasted much different from the food here in the Beast Realm. There was this beast, a wolf you presumed him to be. He was known for being a fighter, a great one at that. He would come to your stand each day, but he wouldn't ever speak. You'd ask him what he wanted, and he would just point. One of these days you'd hope he'd at least say a word to you. Although, you wouldn't hold your breath for that.

After a rush of people came through, you were basically out of stock, save for a few apples. Kumatetsu still had yet to come to you stall. You sighed and began to pack up. You had made enough for the day, you could always just give the apples to an animal in the Human Realm.
Whilst putting away a few things, you saw a huge shadow cover your form.

You immediately stopped what you were doing. Upon turning around very slowly, you came face to chest with the beast named Kumatetsu. You looked up and sweat dropped, "Uh, sorry Kumatetsu, but all of my stock is gone, save for a few apples." He didn't say anything; he just stared at you.

You sweat dropped even more, "Would you like an apple?" He stared for a hard minute, glanced at an apple, and nodded his head and gave you the coin for it. You nodded and turned to grab a bag. You grabbed an apple and put it in the bag, handing it to Kumatetsu.

He nodded his head in thanks, you smiled and carried on with putting things away. Stopping when you saw he hadn't left, he was still standing behind you. "Is there something else I could do for you?" He nodded.

-- Kumetsu interuppted you in the middle and took over the story

"Me, you. Be mine."

"...what?" You said becoming red and fanning yourself.

He grinned and said the words again. You still couldn't believe what he said. "A-ahaha, you want to be with me, Kumatetsu.." You trailed off, suddenly feeling very shy. "I-i didn't think you thought of me that way.

He huffed and smirked. "You'r mine until the end, baby!"

You blushed immensely from that, trying to fan yourself faster, "Oh, Kuma-kun!" You fell into his arms. "I love you~!" He looked at you with a girn, while you started back at him with lovestruck eye. You two leaned in for a kiss.

"-and that's how we met." Kumatetsu finished with a grin. Kyuuta blinked.
"Dumbass, that's how you proposed, that's not how we met. And it definitely didn't go like that, I didn't have lovestruck eyes, you buffoon!" You slapped Kumatetsu on the back of his head.

"This is how it actually went:"

"Court."

"...what?"

He rolled his eyes and mumbled the word again. You still couldn't hear or understand what he said. "A-ahaha, I still can't quite make that out, Kumatetsu.." You trailed off, suddenly feeling very awkward.

He fluffed up and huffed. He sucked in a deep breath and held it, his face became even more red. "I'd like to court you, DAMNIT!"

Everyone in the market stopped and looked at the commotion Kumatetsu caused with his abrupt yell. His breathing accelerated, now that he finally got the words out. You blinked rapidly trying to process what he just yelled.

Once you had a couple of seconds to process what had just happened, your face had become red, quickly matching Kumatetsu's fur. You glanced around and saw that everyone in the entire market place was now staring at the two of you, " Ah-ah!" You fumbled around for words and covered your face nodding," Oh, bother.."

He fluffed up and grinned. "You won't regret it!"
Everyone cheered as he took you into his arms, spinning you around. He set you down, a carresed your face with both thumbs, hands cupping your face. "I love you."

"And I, you." You leaned up, kissing him sweetly.

"That's how it actually went," You rolled your eyes. "You should know by now, you can't really trust him to tell everything correctly. Kyuuta nodded," No kidding. As if (y/n) would act like that, especially for you." He stuck out his tongue at Kumatetsu and took off running.

"Hey! Get back here, brat!" Kumatetsu scrambled up after the small boy. "You won't get away with that, you brat!"

You sighed and chuckled, shaking your head at the pair. You loved them both dearly, now matter the pain in the ass they were.

"Kuma, don't you touch that boy!" You called after them.

Although, looks like we'll have to save how the two of you actually met for later.
