I feel like spreading the feet like that inhibits one's ascending motion. If you kept the feet at the same spot while bending the knees it would feel more like winding up for a spring like motion. Also with the arms spread out like that when he leaves the ground doesnt feel quite natural either, i think they should shot straight down as he jumps up and then settle into that pose when he is up.
