Description Famous magician Merlin with Holy Grail
Нахожу очень занимательным этот довольно противоречивый образ. Совсем не такой добрый волшебник, каким его многие считают. Многое можно про него написать, если углубляться в артуровские легенды, но я не стану этого делать.
Здесь он у меня не такой старый, каким обычно его изображают, а гораздо более молодой, больше приближенный к Мерлину на картине Берн-Джонса. Я большой фанат седых волос )
Есть общие сходства между стилем модерн и кельтскими мотивами. Мне хотелось это передать.

В оригинале, как всегда, выглядит лучше.

I love the androgenous look of Merlin, it's perfect for him as he was known in Celtic legend to switch frequently between the Male and Female sex and one Middle Irish legend describes him as being born of a union between two women. Beautiful work.

You're welcome I recently heard Dr. Phillip A. Bernhardet-House lecture on Queer themes in Celtic legend and myth and he covered this legend during his presentation. Unfortunately, I don't think this legend is widely known or available due to a general lack of interest at universities in homosexual themes in Celtic myth. Dr. Berhhardet-House has published a book “Werewolves, Magical Hounds and Dogheaded Men in Celtic Literature.” Dr. Phillip A. Bernhardet-House 2010, available on Amazon.com. He also has published in many journals about homosexuality in Celtic myth as it is the focus of his research. This legend in particular included the character of Niall Frossach, in English, Neal The Showery, who, in his wisdom, discovered how Merlin's mother, a virgin, came to be pregnant. This may help you in your search for the original source or I could tell you the basics of the story from my notes if you are interested. I hope this helps. And by the way, it really is a lovely painting. If I wasn't a poor student, I would be looking to buy it. Sadly, all my money goes to my University at present. I hope it finds a buyer who will treasure it.

У Берн-Джонса есть потрясающая картина "Зачарованный Мерлин", а еще я где-то видела несколько замечательных графичных иллюстраций. Вот там он схож с моим представлением о Мерлине ) Скорее всего, я его еще раз нарисую как-нибудь )

Мне вот нравиться Мэрлин в исполнении Сэма Нила в фильме "Великий Мэрлин", однако, седые волосы тоже люблю.

Больше, чем А4. Весьма нестандартный размер, несколько больше чем А4, но меньше чем А3.
