Description This is how I made the Meru Puri mirror! For those who care.

Finished Version: [link]

EDIT: Oh yeah, I mispelled "created" but I'm too lazy to go back and fix it. DEAL.

How did you add the mirror?

I actually baked it with the clay, since the oven wasn't too hot - it's only 275 degrees, it didn't do anything too awful to the mirror.

Did you have to cut the mirror?

Nope! I just got one of the small round mirrors from my local craft store. I built the clay around it.

Ok that makes sense. How did you get the right angles for the star. I'm a huge fan of 7-pointed star, but mine always come out uneven.

If I can remember correctly (I made this quite some time ago), I actually drew it out on grid paper, getting the angles where I needed them, and had that paper laminated.

Then cut out said 7 pointed shape. After rolling my clay flat, I pressed the cut out onto the clay, and then traced it with a pointy tool. Minor smoothing after that.

did you bake the mirror in it?

I did! It worked out pretty well. I had been afraid it would melt, but I think it's more glass/metal than plastic. But you'd definitely need to make sure it wasn't made of plastic - otherwise, it would melt! D:

Yeah, I've got to try Sculpty sometime... like you, I just feel like getting creative and this is definitely something I'd love to do at some point. Nice tutorial and you did a fab job with the details--coloring/rustics and engraving on the back. ^^

ps. Apple Barrel=love

I like it better when it still looked like clay, but you did a better job than I could ever do XD;

I like how you did the details on the back of the mirror, even with Airi's finger in the way

Neat! I don't think I'd ever have the patience to make something like that. Well, if you don't count school projects, I don't.

You also misspelled "Diameter" and held the shift down too long for "Gleams". o.o ...er.. to be helpful in a helpful-like way.
