Yep,so today is my b-day. *mimics*" Sweet sixteen " . Iv never foudn somethign so insulting, as the popular idea of numeral age represantation. Its to say we are all the same idiots. We all learn the same things at the same time and rate - we all expierance the same things at the same time - and learn the same things from them. Yada yada.So many roads i could take, so many will o' the whips

happy birthday and kool picture. i have done a mirror pic when i was two years younger. probably exactly two years ago.
but honestly. the maturity thing, i would say that you are more mature and focused than me and i am two years older. people mature and learn at a different rate depending on their background and surroundings. you have been lucky.

Actually, we do not all learn the same things at the same rate. I'm about to turn 21 in (oh gosh.....) 8 days, and I'm just now learning and doing the things that perhaps a 17 year old or 18 year old would..... we are all different and individual from eachother, therefor, we learn different things and go through different experiences.
And I like the concept! I once did a photo like that.... but it was of my hand...... a strange piece, it was.... isnt it neat how all the different angles of the mirror create different views?

I compleatly agree with the pathetic attempt to make us conform at that age. My sixteen was last year and wasn't all so sweet. The day of my birth at least. But this day isn't about me! The school system used in America today originates from the one used centuries ago in Europe, where the entire goal was to turn the people into nation-serving drones. And, honestly, it was the best way to achieve their goals. The system actuallly hasn't changed very much in all this time and schools are still used as a way to give information that helps the cause of those in power, even though this has been muted considerably ever since information and communication has become so much more accessible thanks to the lovely internet. I feel the same way you do- the entire concept of teaching in uniform practice is one of the most insulting things in society.
I feel that the numerical representation of time is a human thing- a tool people have been using ever since civilization began- concocted so that they feel that they have at least some control over nature. Since it has existed for so long in so many different ways, it's not surprising that people had begun to look at humans only as capable as their age flags them. Another thing, I believe, that led to the categorizing of people by age is the jealousy of older people when they see the young- instead of seeing themselves as people existing in the same time, they preoccupy their minds with their own mortality and compare themselves to the younger ones. In doing so, their lives become stagnant.
I think Reflections deals with all of this. If I tried to explain all of the elements in the picture that leads to it, I believe it would dampen the meaning, the emotions, the looks. I'm glad that you can ignore the will o' wisps and walk down your path confidently. Thank you, and Happy Birthday, Kassandra.

I like what you've done using the reflections to make three...the towels in the background are a little distracting though. Maybe next put something nuetral in front to hide them and keep the focus on the subjects. Just a thought..
